I've only just noticed this hence the lack of screenshots but the translucent interface seems to be a big problem for Civ4. If you mouseover something on the interface (such as a possible unit promotion) then the mouseover-tip (on the left side of the screen) only lasts a few seconds before it is replaced with the dialogue telling you the stats for the terrain tile underneath the interface. This can be really annoying when you're trying to study a possible upgrade/promotion/worker action that you've never seen before and you keep having to mouse-over it again and again to get the dialogue box back.
The easy solution to this would be to make the interface opaque, either as an option introduced by a patch or as a mod (any ideas on how to acheive this?). I think it would give a noticable speed boost on lower-end computers too because it would reduce some of the strain on the GPU.
