Trash Collection - Weird but good

I began playing Civ IV in full screen mode (the default). Whenever I quit to desktop, the Civ IV process continued to run, presumably for trash collection. This was no big deal unless you needed to switch to another task quickly. Sometimes the process continued for 30 seconds after 'exiting' the game.

Last night I decided to try the game in window mode. I didn't care for it because you can't scroll around the map my moving your mouse off screen. So I quit the game. I noticed the garbage collection routine didn't last as long.

I switched back to full screen mode and played, rebooted and played some more. Now when I quit, the after process wraps up much quicker. So that's weird, but good.

I run patched version 1.61 on Win XP with SP2.

If u have less than 1GB RAM probably windows was using virtual memory (ie disk space)
I dont know the algorithm used but 30 seconds to release the allocated memory is too much!

Yep, I'm putzing along at half a gig of ram. I know, I know, but it seemed like plenty at the time.
