Obviously the AI is given a trade advantage when dealing with it's fellow AI. However, is it still possible to trash their rep? If you were somehow able to deduce that a gpt or resource deal was taking place between 2 civs, could you get one to make an alliance against the other, trashing their rep?

It is certainly possible to put the AI up against eachother, its just a question of gold.
I often manipulate the AI into entering wars so my enemy ends up fighting on 2 fronts.
How it affects their Rep. i dont know but everyone's rep is pretty much ruined by the middleages lol.

I find that a good way to keep a peace with the AI is to keep making ROP agreements they generally dont like to break them so if you can keep them up its a pretty good safegaurd.

Usually when I'm allied with civ A against civ B and if they make peace, I try to get the alliance back again. I do that in the hopes of trashing civ A's reputation with civ B. It usually works, and your foreign advisor will tell you Civ A is a known liar and cheater.

I don't think the AI's worry about rep when dealing with each other. Or if they do, it doesn't affect them much. They'll still trade with each other. Reputation seems to be a burden only to the human player. But it's more of an impression; I haven't tried experimenting to see if I can influence trade between them.

I heard somewere that civilizations of the same culture group will start off with better attitudes towards each other. Can anyone confirm this?

I am far from convinced that the AI can have a trashed rep; in all of my games they break treaties constantly, yet their ability to trade/ make ROP's seems completely unaffected.

My guess is that between AI and AI, reputation is meaningless, but is a major factor between the human player/players and them.

Yea the computer players are just out to get you. It always ends up being AI vs Human, and there is not a ton that can be done about it. Technology trading is one big example of this. The AI will almost give away technology and such to other AI opponents, yet even with a freindly relationship with a computer player the computer is still gonna ask for top dollar from the human.

The best way to slow AI to AI trading is to get them fighting each other, they can't trade while at war with each other. They don't care about reputation, but they do care about who they are at war with.
