I was foolish enough to delete the files after getting bored of the game. Now i really wish to play it again, but the game is still technically installed.

I cant play, and when i put in the disk, it gives me the options to play, read me, and exit. if i click play, the menu dissapears as if the game is about to play. the game never plays though.

As if to try and fix this problem, I try uninstalling the game. when i try doing this, it says,

"An error, (-5004 : 0x80041f42) has occured while running the setup

Plaese make sure you have finished any other previous setup and closed other applications. If the error still occurs, contact your vendor: Firaxis Games
(##IDS_PRODUCT_URL##)."

extra details are,
"Error Code: -5004 : 0x80041f42
Error Information:
*C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\12\00\Intel32\iKernel.dll
>inc\CoCreate.cpp (44)

The final problem is that i cannot do anything to reinstall. When i try to reinstall, it says word for word

"The setup has detected the version 1.74.000 of Sid Meier's Civization 4 is currently installed.
This setup installs an earlier Version of Sid Meier's Civilization 4 (1.61).
You will have to uninstall the previous version before installing the previous version."

Obviously im stuck in an endless loops thats degrading my confidence and patience. If it helps, I have the game of the year edition. Any and all comment are appreciated. thank you.:goodjob:

Could you be more specific? Which files/folder did you delete exactly?

Well I went to disk drive, program files, etc and deleted the folder all the game files were inside. not the smartest move, but i was in a hurry and wanted the game deleted without uninstalling. does this help?

This may or may not help, but an older thread on manual uninstall can be found here:

Some additional info on the GUIDs of the expansions that you have to look up in the registry:

well. it fully installed again, but when the propmt comes to click play, view readme, or quit, when i clicked play, the loading screen in 6 different lanuguages popped up. then after a couple seconds, it said i didnt have the correct disk to play the game in the drive, but i have disk 1 in. do i maybe need a crack so i can play the game without the disk? or do i ununstall the game and reinstall it?

Well you can try the instructions in the thread that Vyn linked to. (It wasn't really clear from your last post if you did. I.e., going into the installshield folder and renaming some folder there, as explained in the instructions. After that, you have of course to run civ4-setup again).

If that doesn't work best solution is really to backup your stuff, wipe your disk clean and reinstall everything from scratch.

I did follow the instructions very clearly, and i got the game to once again install. but now that the game is fully istalled, when i put disk 1 to play the game in, it says i need the correct disk to play the game. the disk is very clean, as i take very good care of my disks. I'm just wondering if i need to uninstall it or get a no cd crack so i can play once again.

Have you tried inserting disc-2 instead? I think iirc i read here that on the US version of civ4 firaxis (or someone at 2k, dunno) messed up, and they mislabeled the discs or something.
You can of course still get the nocd from gamecopyworld, just because you can't be sure the disc won't get worn out over time :/. Just be aware in that case if your download such cracked executable files theoretically someone could have put a backdoor in them which means it could be dangerous to trust that computer for important stuff like online-banking because of that.
