Trouble with Multiplayer

Well, I have just purchased Civ III: Complete, because I had lost my Civ III disks from before. Now however when I join a Multiplayer game, I can enter the Staging area, but then when the part comes to choose your nation and such, I dont see myself or anyone else. I only see two slots with "connecting" and after a couple minutes it tells me "host has cancelled the game". This has happened a good 15 times, I have never got into a MP game. I did everything, I deactivated all firewalls, opened ports, and even put my computer into DMZ. Im baffled and btw sometimes I cant even get into the nation choosing screen sometimes

Kyoto, it seems to me that you have just had bad luck with all the hosts of the MP games you tried to play.
