Hi guys ! Got a nice today at work for Civ6 expansion or for a great Mod project. My idea is colonies. But those are the mechanics how it should work. Besides a settler there is a units called colonialist. The colonialist can build a colony that can evolve to a town,but not a city. The colony starts with 6 workable hexes but can evolve to 10 normaly,only to 12 workable hexes with a policy card like example explotation. The colonies can´t build science buildings and culture buildins or districts,only when they reach the level of being "town" can they construct a minor science,cultural building.Colonies are mostly there to produce gold,hold key spots for trade or to have the chance to observe the surroundings and keep up what other civilisations do. The colonies only can build builidings like walls,airports,harbors and builidngs that amplify the output of some resources. Example wine cellar where you have wine resources,mint building where is cooper,gold,silver,sculpture building where you have marble or ivory etc. At first when you found a colony you start with one population but colonies grow much,much slower. You need to send population from your cities to work in colonies mostly. Also until first you have to send food to your colonies to sustain them. This is done by a special trade unit that is designed only for trade between city and colony. The food that is sent is not just a magical number that just comes but you have the control how much you send them and can lover,rise the food exported. Also i got a idea when it comes to "exploration". You get rewards every era after the classical era for being the one who explored the most of the map. There are two races for naval exploration and for land exploration. Both give unique bonues from promotions for units,to unique yields or other things. We need more resources that are on water tiles and a city build on ao coast should have a chance to choose will it imeadetly get a harbor districs or rather not to got to get an other district when it reaches 3 pop. We need more natural wonders and all of them should give something special from promotions to unique resources. Also finding a natural wonder gives you some culture,science,faith,tourism,gold,production bonus also if you are the first to find that wonder it should be known through the entire game that are the one that discovered it. Like when you enter the renaisscane/medival era you get a great work of art for every discovered natural wonder.
