Anyone got this game? I've thinking of getting it and wanted to know what you think. Is it like/better than GTA3/GTA3:VC? Or is it more like The Getaway?

from what i heard it is better than GTA.
and there is more foul language!

I got it last week.

Its not as good as GTA3 or VC.

Its pretty good though.Twists and turns lead to different endings.

The control is a tad awkward though. The city is an actual scale of LA and is HUGE.BUT,you really don't see most of it unless you want to.There are no hidden packages to find or anything so there is really no reason to explore. Not that I can see anyways.

The police patroling is kinda neat.Random crimes occur around the city and you can respond if you want.Muggers, street brawls, drug deals, robberies etc you name it.You can be a good cop by flashing your badge, firing warning shot or engaging in hand to hand fighting to apprehend the perp.
Or you can be Dirty Harry and blow the scum away :)

There 3 different upgrades you can work on throughout the game.
Your car and driving skills
Your gun and shooting skills
Your fighting skills

You go to dojos, shooting range or street race/course to earn your upgrades.
Stuff like:fast reload,PIT manouver,new grapples etc

Overall I would say this game is a renter first. Then decide.Replayability is gonna be limited.

Smash? Canada? Then who's the punker in Australia who never posts anymore?

It would appear there is a reason to look around the city.Apparently there are 30 "bones" hidden thruout the city.Supposedly if you find one, they will appear on the map.
Collecting all 30 will get the rapper Snoop Dogg into the game somehow.Probably allow you to play as him

I don't think "bones" can take the place of 100 hidden packages, tons of unique jumps, kill frenzys, hidden properties, secret missions, and dozens of other bonuses I'm forgeting.

I'll take Vice City or GTA3 over it anyday.

Ok so I rented TC over the long weekend. I like the game. It does take some time for it to grow on you though.

I probably will get the game when the price drops a little.

My impressions so far are good though. TC is different than GTA:VC in that to be a "good cop" you cannot go on random killing sprees like you can in VC. That doesn't mean there isn't a lot to do though in TC. Arresting thugs, training at dojo's, and looking for trouble and then saving innocent people can be fun.

I just visited the famous HOLLYWOOD sign. Also spent some time at Hollywood and Vine intersection.Interesting part of town.

I REALLY need a plane or helo to look around.Too bad there aren't any.

ALOT of work was put into the city in this game. Its pretty darn accurate.AN LA street map will help in this game.If you live in the area, you may even be able to find your house or apartment building.

I hope the next GTA game has this kind of detail in the city.

Dem bones are hard to find even when they appear on the map.I would suggest a guide and using the "show co-ordinates" cheat to find them.

If videogaming is a religion, then Electronic Gaming Monthly is it's holy book.

True Crime:
6.5/10, 9.5/10, 5.5/10
Average: 7.2/10

Grand Theft Auto III:
9.0/10, 9.0/10, 10/10
Average: 9.3/10

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
10/10, 10/10, 10/10
Average: 10

Another interesting tidbit revealed in the rumor section is that we are due for GTA5 in 2004.

Yeah I got it yesterday because it was on half price (pretty good for a game this new) As said by everyone, it isn't as good as Vice City. It is fun in its own way though. It's much more realistic than VC, IMO (except driving to a certain degree) The music is heaps better than the 80s tracks of VC (though I'm into Rap; others might not like the variety, or lack thereof). It doesn't have bikes, which sucks.

Frisking pedestrians for illegal drugs and weapons is a neat feature that I find fun :) I don't know about the "intense stunts" claimed on the back cover though... Where?

I heard True Crime was really easy to beat, your better off renting it and beating it in the 3 or so days you get it.

and definitely go check out www.mtavc.com its gonna be great (and its cool right now)

I think it's a bit more than a 3 day-clocker, but it's definately pretty easy once you get the hang of the controls and so on, because it's fairly repetative. Some missions are damn hard, though.

BTW, yes there is more foul language :D

They both have their ups and downs. I kind of like the shooting system better in TC. I think the missions are more fun in TC, there is more foul language in TC, and the explosions are better in TC. :D However, you cannot pick up hoes in TC. :( I would GTA beats TC in everything else.
