Trying to get a multiplayer game going over hamachi

Hey guys,

I'm trying to get a game of Lost Eden going with a friend over in Sydney, with difficulty. Currently, we can see each other's games, but if we try to join, it thinks about it for about 2 minutes and then bails back to the main menu.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

try by-passing the router(s)

How does one do that? Do you mean port forwarding? We are using Hamachi so I didn't think that would be necessary.

Unless you mean something else of course.

no. just connect your computers to the net without the use of the router (of course, if that's possible)

No not really I'm afraid--we are using wireless broadband connections which need a phone line.

if i understand well, you should have a line coming out of the modem that goes into the router. you can plug that into your computer..

I don't have a modem installed in this PC, which is a different system to ADSL... that won't work that way I'm sorry.

hmm, you should have a UTP cable coming out of the ADSL modem.

anyway, are you using the 'scient patch'?

We are using his patch, yes.

try uninstalling it on both computers. i have experienced the same problem in a 4 players game while trying to join the 'server'. all players were using the patch at that time and after downgrading to SMAX v2.0 it worked fine.

Okay I'll see how that works then next time we give it a shot! Any other possiblities we should try?

GameRanger works only with SMAC (and the graphics are all messed up) and your mod is for SMAX AFAIK.
that leaves you with 'direct connect' using your IPs. get your IP using http://www.whatsmyip.org/ or something like that turn off your Hamachi and connect the usual way but this time using your 'real' IPs instead of the Hamachi ones.
