Welcome to the 242nd game in the GOTM V Training Series! This Series allows new and old Civilization V fans to try out many features from Civ5's expansions and DLCs in a friendly environment. Participants are encouraged to post questions, stories, advice, tricks and failures in the dedicated game threads (described below). Each game will specify the Civ you will play and the Victory Condition to strive for. You can read more about the GOTM and Training Series concept in this thread.

Our most sacred rule: Do not replay any turns!
If you make a mistake, accept it, and try to recover through game-play. To ensure fair play and prevent results exclusions, please set your Autosaves to "1 turn". In the event of a computer crash while playing, just reload to the previous autosave, then play on the same way you played it the first time. Please let Leif or me know (either in the forums or through Private Message) if you experienced a crash and how many turns you replayed.

Your Unique Characteristics:
UA: Spice Islanders:
The first 3 cities founded on continents other than where Indonesia started each provide 2 unique Luxury Resources (and can never be razed).
UU: Kris Swordsman: Replaces the Swordsman. Gains a free special promotion after the first battle, chosen at random from the list below:
  • Invulnerability: +30% Combat Bonus when defending. +20 HP when healing
  • Sneak Attack: Flank attack bonus increased by 50%
  • Heroism: Unit awards combat bonus to nearby units as if it is a Great General
  • Ambition: +50% Combat Bonus when attacking. -20% penalty when defending
  • Restlessness: May attack twice, 1 extra movement
  • Recruitment: Heals all damage if the unit kills a non-Barbarian unit (only 50 HP)
  • Enemy Blade: Takes 20 damage if the unit ends its turn in enemy territory
  • Evil Spirits: -10% penalty when attacking. -30% penalty when defending
UB: Candi: Replaces the Garden. Provides +2 Faith and additional +2 Faith for each Religion that has at least 1 follower in the city. Does not have to be built next to a River or Lake.

We have a game file upload system you can find here. Please use it to upload your completed first attempt by saving the game on the turn after your victory or defeat. (by using the "lemme play one more turn" feature)

Please note: you must submit your game on the turn following Victory. If you continue to play, the game overwrites the data and your submission could be rejected by the submission system.

On the donut map I don't think it generates islands, so I expect the UA spice islanders cannot be used.
Culture win on warlord means Sacred Sites, the Candi is gonna help with that.
Have to remind myself that the AIs are gonna be weak, so mostly no luxury trade with them, trading resources to them for gold is difficult and there might almost be no workers to steal.
 
That's a mighty tiny doughnut :lol: (starting screenshot itself looks like a doughnut). Yea, Warlord; not sure I've ever played one of those, I've forgotten if I did. Aren't there some weird things that can happen in Warlord, like getting a Settler from a ruin? And hey, I might be able to actually make Sacred Sites work for once!

Guess I'll move the warrior around to the east. Don't expect anything to make me move to settle though.

Maybe there is also a big donut slash Easter egg that will count as an island. Some nutmeg would be a small relief when born on a small island surrounded by ocean. Incidentally, I love nutmeg. I think it has one of the best scents there is.
