TSG 272 After Actions

How do you speed up Diplo victory exactly? I've always assumed it only comes down to getting to the Info Age via Telecom asap and right before a congress vote, so that you can win 10 turns after that.
Is that all? Am I missing something?
I'd love someone to explain the tricks and nuances.

This info is compact but essentially useful:

Any chance of seeing GOTM273 out today? I've been such a diligent boy this week so I thought I could deserve some civ gluttony.

Won at turn 185. (Probably my fastest diplo win ever) I followed vadalaz' post timings. Here are some timing specific i didn't forget to write down:
turn 136 printing press, already have secularism and free thought in rationalism
t146 scientific theory
t147 me modern era with GS bulb + oxford into radio
t167 me atomic era with GS bulb + free tech from rationalism
t169 killed 5th enemy AI, only 3 civs including me left
t170 world = atomic, UN founded
t184 leader vote
t185 win

I needed the Globalization tech + 2 diplomats to get 40 votes. I barely made the tech with my last GS bulb just in time. I also had 2 votes from forbidden palace, but there was 1 city state missing.
The first vote i picked science research for more CS, but this vote barely does anything with this fast timing. Maybe should've picked world religion to get 2 more votes to be more safe.
I also barely killed the 5th civ in time. I had 9 crossbows, 3 elephants and 1 pikeman for that.

Also maybe a bit unorthodox but i went Order, for the 25% science on factories. The high amount of culture due to the UA made it easy to fill order for that.

Edit: seeing the other posts now I indeed missed 1 CS on an island NE of Assur.

I may have forgot to meet the last 2 city states so this got prolonged I think about 40 turns of nothing happening haha, been a while since doing a diplo vic.
First time playing Siam, their unique ability was interesting... very fun to see the capital have +70 food and I think that might have even been before turn 100 or at least +50/60 before 100.
I kept having to remind myself I wasn't going for a science victory so went freedom, don't know which one is best for diplo, ended up taking out Askia and the Inca hoping that'd get me to diplo vic faster but I'm not sure if it works like that.

In this game, I tried to play through tradition and once again I became convinced that I did not understand how to do it correctly. I sorely missed scouts, units, hammers, etc. Obviously, you need to choose and build only the most necessary things, but it's my style to build everything at once :) Liberty 6 cities would be perfect on this map, at least for me. and I'm sure the result would have been better :) Instead, it's a tradition, 4 cities. An illustrative example is that I found Jerusalem only on turn 78. Before that, at 63, I found ruins with faith and founded the pantheon (DF). Otherwise, I probably would have been left without religion)

I decided to finish my diplo in one round, but since I hadn't done it before, I was very cautious. Before PP, I learned not only aesthetics (for rationalism and Oracul), but also banking and even architecture (6 turns). The latter was a clear mistake, and it was at this point that I lost to Rhodro. As a result, the PP is only on turn 143, which is of course very late. I also started the conquest late, but I figured it out in time and made a 2nd army (3 crossbows + 2 elephants) for the Netherlands. 1st (4 crossbows + 3 elephants) destroyed Polynesia, Incas, Songhai and Assyria. And later Egypt.

To transition to the atomic age, I did not need the 2nd Scientist from faith(171 turn), and I also postponed the construction of the Porcelain Pagoda and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, as there were enough scientists. I could have gone to at least turn 168 when I had the last necessary scientist, but I held back to combine it with the conquest.

On turn 172, I built Oxford, first captured Ashur and Amsterdam on turn 173, after which I moved into the atomic age with the help of free technology from Oxford. As a result, on the next turn, the whole world (me, Russia and Egypt) immediately jumped from the industrial (3,2,1) to the atomic era (6,4,2 + UN). Thus, I saved 2 turns between the PP and the vote. (Rhodro has 48 turns (136-184), I have 46 (143-189).

P.S. I built 30 wonders and captured all the other 9. Gr. Lib (Ashur) and Stone (Egypt) were taken away from me same turn finishing the construction process, and Egypt also built Hanging Gardens. Apart from the most recent wonders that I didn't have time to learn, the only thing I didn't have was Big Ben. I didn't open up commerce, because I didn't have time to build a wonder anyway. I opened aesthetics, exploration and piety for the Ufizzi, the Louvre and Gr. Mosque, and captured the Pyramids and Zeus.
