Welcome to the TSG152 After Actions Report. In this thread you can post the results of your game. Please state victory date and score (preferably in the post title), as recorded in the Hall of Fame, and the most important: your path to glory!

STOP - Please do not continue reading this thread until you have completed and submitted your game.

Please use the Civ5 game submission page to submit your final, first play through, .Civ5Save file, saved AFTER the victory ceremony if you were not conquered (using the "Lemme play one more turn" feature.).

- Discuss if you changed your mind on your initial VC choice and why.
- Describe your Great Person choices from the Mayan UA and how they impacted your strategy.
- If you went for Culture, describe your cultural conversion order. Any runaways?
- If you went for Domination, describe your conquering order.

**Please use spoiler tags for any surprise details you'd like kept hidden. Thanks.**

Players are encouraged to provide feedback on the game. Some players like to replay the game, and although we will not record the results from a replay, you can still post your new experiences (please state if the game is a replay). Please refrain from posting videos until the deadline for submission is over.

Too many runaways and aggro civs. Bismarck generated 47k of culture with Alex and Darius close behind. Took ages to catch them :(

First let me explain that I am ineligible to enter the competition proper because I have made numerous changes to base EUI. The changes follow the EUI philosophy of not revealing additional information, but some people might consider it cheating, and I'm fine with that.

I quite often play GOTM games (but never enter of course) because it's fun to read how other people got on with the same start. I hope it's OK for me to post in this thread, which should only be read by those who have finished the game, so I won't be spoiling anything; If not then let me know, and I won't do it again. Also, it does not look like there will be many completed games this time, so someone might enjoy comparing with my game.

I completed a domination victory on turn 262, which was my plan from the outset. This was my first attempt at immortal so I am very pleased with that. The game was quite a slog (and has taken me ages to play (36+ hours)) as I was almost permanently at war.

I misunderstood how the UA worked and expected to get my first free GP straight away at theology - like the calendar starts now - so that messed up my plans a little. I took GS (academy), GE (wonder), Merchant (CS alliance), then artistic ones. On the question of beelining theology, my thought is to give it some priority, but not at the cost of establishing a strong early position.

I built several early atlastist units who helped a lot in the early wars. Greece and Japan both declared on me fairly early (t49). I captured a Japanese city that was too close to my city (NE coast near gems and wine) and razed it, then took peace. Tried unsuccessfully to take Athens but got some well promoted units from the war. All other wars were started by me.

Capital conquest order: Greece(t150), Japan(t161), Aztecs(t194), Ethiopia(t228), Egypt(t252), Germany(from Persia)(t260), Persia(t262). Germany were eliminated by a combination of Egypt and Persia. Basically my army swept across the map from west to east. After about 2000 hours total game time, I finally used my first atomic bomb! I saw Egypt had one themselves and used the one I had built to destroy it. However they had two more hidden which they then used and killed several of my most promoted units. Was it a mistake to use one for that purpose? Did that probably cause the retaliation?

I ended the game with Stealth Bombers, Jet Fighters and XCOM, which I've rarely used before so that was fun. Got pretty close to completing the tech tree.

Policy wise I opened honor (considering raging barbs), then full liberty, completed honor, completed rationalism and got ten policies in Autocracy. I also opened patronage at some point to help keep a few CS allies.

Had a lot of fun playing so thanks to the organisers and hope I didn't upset anyone.

Greece sent a 22+ unit carpet of doom. The end.

(Or, as too frequently said around here, "fail quickly")

I survived the attack from Greece (which I managed to delay until about turn 160), and Alex was friendly after that. But I never could catch him in science or military, and could not catch Ethiopia in culture.
