Its bloody hard to get players interested in Civ Vanilla games these days, Tupac06 got a grand total of 2 signups
As for now thats on hiatus, probably forever unless someone wants to have a crack at an AW game there.

Hopefully this will get enough interest.

Its the Ancient Mediterranean Mod! Direct from Civ3.com and downloadable here this gives Vanilla the chance to get a taste of Conquests style Scenarios.

This scenario is set around the Mediterranean and uses only ancient technology.
This Scenario allows you to play as one of the major civilizations around, suprise, the Ancient Mediterranean: either Rome, Greece, Carthage, Egypt, Babylon or Persia. There is also a non-playable, AI only Civ called the Hallstat, the name given to the earliest Northern European Civ that existed.

From the Readme.txt said:
Modifications: The main modification is technology. The ancient technology tree is unchanged, but

a few technologies have been added to it. Here is the list of added technologies.
Chemistry, Democracy, Economics, Education, Engineering, Espionage, Medicine, Monotheism, Nationalism, Oligarchy and Physics. Oligarchy is Communism, just with a new name.

Physics and Medicine both extend off of Philosophy. Chemistry then extends off of Medicine. Democracy extends off of Republic, Nationalism off of Monarchy and Oligarchy off of Nationalism. Economics extends off of Currency, Education requires both Literature and Philospohy. Engineering is available once Construction and Physics are researched and Montheism once Polytheism is researched. And Espionage is available with both Map Making and Literature.

All ancient buildings are available plus, Bank comes with Economics, Hospital comes with Medicine, University comes with Education and Cathedral comes with Monotheism. Police Station is available with Oligarchy, but its name has been changed to Royal Guard. No functions have been changed for any buildings.

All Ancient Wonders are still available plus, the Sistine Chapel has been changed to The Parthenon, JS Bach's Cathedral has been changed to the Pantheon, Sun Tzu's Art of War is Alexander's Art of War, Copernicus' Observatory is Plato's Academy, Adam Smith's Trading Company is simply called Trade Routes, United Nations is called Universal Empire. Their functions have not changed. The Parthenon is available with Monotheism, The Pantheon with Polytheism, Art of War with Nationalism, Plato's Academy with Philosophy, Trade Routes with Economics and Universal Empire with Democracy.
Every small wonder is available still except Apollo Program and Missile Defense. The Pentagon is called the Conscription Center. Iron works is called Metal Works and requires iron and tin in the town square (I'll explain resources later). Wall St. is called National Treasury. None of their functions have changed. Conscription Center is available with Communism and still needs 5 barracks. All other small wonders still have the same requirements as before.

Obviously saltpeter, coal, rubber, oil, aluminum and Uranium are not used. What has been added is wood, stone, tin, and elephants. Wood uses the coal icon and can be found in forest and jungle. It is available once Warrior Code is researched. Not all forest and jungle sqaures have wood, so look carefully, the coal icon might be hard to see. Stone uses the Saltpeter icon and is found in mountains and hills. It is available once Masonry is researched. Tin is available once Bronze Working is researched and is found in hills and mountains. It is represented by the aluminum icon. Elephants use the ivory icon (there is no ivory in this scenario) and is available once Polythiesm is researched. Carthage is the only civilization that uses elephants. They need it for their special unit, the war elephant.
Wood and stone are very abundant in this scenario and it is used for many things. Virtually every building requires stone or wood. The smaller buildings, like marketplace and courthouse use wood and the big buildings, like colosseum and aquaduct use stone. Most wonders require one or the other too, so just make sure you always have some available. Wood is also used for several units. Archers, settlers and boats all require wood before they can be built. Luxury and bonus resources have not been changed, except for the ivory.

Unit changes. Since this is a big map, all the units that could move 1 square can now move 2, except warriors, workers, settlers and catapults. Horse units can move 3 squares, but elephants can only move 2 since they are lumbering beasts. Galleys can move 4 squares now, have an attack of 2 and can carry 3 units. But I gave coastal squares a 50% defense bonus to keep sea warfare challenging.

Explorers are available with Map Making and can see 2 sqaures. The only fighting unit from the Middle Ages I kept is the longbowman. It is available with Engineering. I reduced its attack to 3, its cost to 20 shields and gave it the special attack of the marine, amphibious assault. And for the final unit change, I beefed up the catapult. It has a bombardment of 6, a rate of fire of 2 and a range of 2.

Personally I favour playing as either Rome or Carthage (replaces England) although if there are enough people (first for a game!) that disagree with that then I'm happy to change. This scenario is a proper scenario so its not just normal starts, but is actually a proper map with multiple starting civs and units, accurate start locations etc.

Favoured difficulty level is Emperor or Deity, remember this is a Vanilla Scenario.

Anyone interested?

lurker's comment: Hope you get some [civ3] players.
