Turn based strategy games or Real time Srategy?

I like both. I think the problem with most RTS don't give you enough time to into tactical portion of battles while TBS don't lend well to multiplayer because they are too slow on the time issue. We all wish we had 10 hours a day to play our games but once you get into the real world it is very difficult to get 10 hours a month in. :(

If it weren't for Age of Empires or Starcraft, I wouldn't think much of RTS.

I just recently read a study about the two sides of the brain, left and right. (Yes this does have something to do with TBS and RTS). Appearently, the Left Brain is the TBS type, and the Right part is the RTS type. According to the study, males are generally stronger on the Left brain, which would explain why most here prefer TBS and suck at RTS. But the best way to "improve" the brain would be to play a game that require thinking, but punishes you for taking to long.

I just thought that the article was interesting, I didn't read much of it so I don't have a link or anything.

Why not combine the two and make a great game :mischief:

If you want this, check out the Total War series or alot of the Paradox games such as Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis, and coming soon, Victoria. The Paradox games progress in real-time, but a pause feature is included so you can regroup forces, make decisions about your nation, etc.

I like both types equally. TBS involves more skill, , I also find some RTS games, like Warcraft III require almost as much skill, as you have to know what to build and when to build it. RTS games are fun because they test your reflexes and coordination more than TBS and are often more intense.

Lords of Magic is another TBS with the option of RTS (with pause) for the tactical battles. I like the mix of strategy, a dash of tactics, but am now semi-retired from dexterity related games.

There was a reason for the :mischief: If you look around the forum and my sig you will notice that I have already checked out the Total war series.

I normally skip the battles in the Total War series since the computer normally does a better job at controlling the battle than do I (even at the hardest level which I have taken the weakest country in M:TW and still won - or would have if I didn't grow bored). I just suck more at the real-time part.

Lol, whoops. :) Must be that cocussion I got Saturday... Anyways, still, check out Hearts of Iron, Europea Universalis, and Victoria (when it comes out).

you should have done a pole for this thread

I like turn based strategy games more than I like most RTS games.
