UN Victory in a Brave New World (Ideas and Suggestions)

Bit of a bump here, sorry!

I was reading this, and thinking ideologies are pretty good at simulating a 'cold-war' era style time, with blocks of people working together.

I think they should influence diplomacy more. The last game I just won on immortal was a diplomatic victory, and although the Danes went Autocracy they still ended up supporting their allies, who went order (Carthage, who had a better chance to win). That's also another thing, civs WILL vote for other civs if they're on a team. I just tried a team game with AI for the first time. I would NOT recommend it again, it is horrible. But I think we should have the city states having their own influences for ideologies, like a religion. If your ideology is the same as the CS, you gain a bunch of resting reputation (maybe -> 30?) so that you mimic the whole 'America and Russia fighting for influence of smaller conflict areas' that was so common, pretty good feel. And then in the WC/UN, make it so that the ideologies band together and pick their most likely candidate to host/win and all vote for them. That alone would help a lot!

Maybe make the requirement that, in order for a CS to vote for you, it had to been able to vote for your proposition in the previous world congress. I.e. so you have to control the CS at least a session in advance before the 'victory' election.

Then essentially add logic to the AI (at least competitive ones) that says - if any player controls enough delegates during a world congress to win a diplomatic victory, try and buy out one or more CSs before the coming leader elections.

ahh yes ideology SHOULD have major influence on CS. some (rogue states?) might gravitate to order others might go toward freedom. then you have the most influential civ in each ideology be sort of the leader in that ideology...i currently have a game where im 1st each demographic and suddenly everyone went from friendly to afraid of me for no reason, except the 2nd most powerful france. they and boudicca went order but most of the other civs are going freedom, and yet france is host of the WC then the UN. and when voting for world leader you could say im the leader of the free world yet, every civ votes for themselves in this cold war. even though my spies have been enabling me to warn them of napoleons plotting against them!. surely they would prefer me to win rather than him and order!
and if everyone is so afraid why wont it influence them to vote for me out of fear and/or gratitude ? we are in a cold war, in this particular game (going for culture victory). if necessary have the CS all vote in an unaligned way as neutrals by abstaining, but surely if france coups a CS it should flip the new regime to order ideology for purposes of voting, and if i flip it can vote how it wants being a free CS govt.

oh and i want the ability to veto and ignore UN or WC resolutions also. i thot maybe the first 5 civs or the biggest civs when the WC founded plus the founder nation should be on security council of it able to veto. permanent members. also want the ability (if everyone so scared of me) to bully others to stop wars i put in my wishlist thread more details why

Yeah, my issue with city states right now from an immersion point of view is that they are in many ways less interesting than vanilla city states.

In vanilla, city states under attack would issue missions where killing x# of enemy units would grant you free influence. This was removed from the subsequent patching/shake up when Shafer left.

The City-States of G&K and BNW are important and significant, but very little of what they do reflect in-game realities. They are glorified quest giving machines, which is fine in moderation, but City-States lacking ideological tilt and not really playing politics on their local level is problematic.

They are almost like people who are there and you ignore most of the time in a party until you have to walk up past them to get to the beer or cheese.
