I am running Windows 10 Home Version. I have installed the CIV III disc, the PTW and Conquests, game works fine. I have been working on personal Scenarios, creating and playing no problem. I save the game no problem and can reload a save.

Here is my problem: I want to remove the saves I have in the folder however when I went to my C drive and followed the file path to where the saves are stored they are not there. In game I can see maybe 20 saves which I want to clear out.

Any help would be appreciated!

Virtual Store did it..amazing!!!!

Here it is on how to activate:

Windows 8.1 and 10
  • Right-click the Start button and select Run to open the Run command in Windows. ( Keyboard Shortcut: Windows key + R)
  • In the Run Command box, type %localappdata%\virtualstore and hit Enter on your keyboard.
  • You should now see the Virtual Store folder on your screen.

Now simply navigate to the saved files!!!

... and if you have found your Virtual Store, don´t forget to create a shortcut to your desktop to have an easy access to it for the next time you need it. The Virtual Store not only hosts the Civ 3 save files, but also many other files for Civ 3 and C3C, that overwrite your modified files, if the files in the Virtual Store are not deleted.

I mod CIV II,III, BTS and Call To Power.

I am However, having a slight issue. I like to Mod save games in single player but cant find one compatible Save Game Editor.

Do you know of one that works on Conquests and Windows 10?

Thanks for any feedback

Hi Gramps,

unfortunately I´m not a big help for modding Civ 3 save files. I mod nearly all that is possible for Civ 3, but I never had an interest in modding save files.
As far as I know, in former times modding save files was possible with the Civ3 Multitool, but with the last versions of Windows a lot of problems were reported.

The editor of Quintillus can extract BIQ files from Conquests SAV files, although that functionality is very lightly tested, seeing as it isn't the main goal of the editor - but this is not a complete modding of C3C save files.

I think you are aware of the possibilities of the standard C3C editors 1.00 and 1.03 in Debug Mode. Here you don´t need a save file for a modification, but can do the changes during the game (and than do the save file). The handicap is, that you must have started the game with a biq in Debug Mode. This needs enabling the Debug Mode in the biq before starting a game with the modified biq. The Debug Mode works very well with Win 10.

If you need more help with creating biqs in Debug Mode, please let me know.

Thanks so much!! This is much further than I have gotten thus far!! I will try and again the CFC community has always been kind not insulting to us "modding challenged"...

Keep on CIVIN!!!

Ok, I played maybe 50 turns...thanks again for the help!

Now if I could alter terrain I would be golden! (During game or a saved game.....be allowed to do what the Editor allows while setting up a Scenario is what I am referring to..i.e. add a River....to a mountain...add gold to a mountain...that sort of thing.)

Any help is much appreciated.

Gramps, for changing terrain during a game in Debug Mode the possibilities are very limited. You can add workers to do the terraforming work
and can delete those workers when their job is done, you can set some new terraforming options in the biq that starts the Debug game, but you loose the old terraforming options in that biq and there is no possibility to add rivers during a game in Debug Mode.

Here it could be much better to use the function of the editor of Quintillus to extract BIQ files from Conquests SAV files ( until now I have never tested it). Instead of save files you will have the extracted biqs for each turn you want to do changes. In that new biq you can do all the changes to the terrain and the setting of units you want with any C3C editor (including the Quintillus editor). The extracted and edited biq starts a new game with the modified situation as turn 1 of the game. This procedure can also be done with biqs in Debug Mode and can be repeated several times. The biq in Debug Mode can be simpy changed back to a biq without Debug Mode by disabling the box 'Debug Mode' in the editor and saving the new 'normal' biq.

Later you can import the last changed settings of the map and unit stats in those 'working-biqs' to your starting biq of the scenario, but be careful with importing the locations of added units. Here it is mostly better to exclude the position of units from the import in the selection boxes of your scenario biq, otherwise some units will appear in locations where they should not be at the start of the scenario.
