Where have you installed BtS? If it's in the program files, then Windows 7 might prevent the mod from functioning since the mod tries to save its ini files under Rise of Mankind\UserSettings folder but by default Win 7 does not allow anyone to change or write any files under Program files folder structure. Basically this means that you need to install BtS somewhere else, as long as it's outside the "program files" folder (or you can try disabling User Account Control and running the mod with Administrator rights). Another possibility is that your BtS isn't patched up to v3.19 or that the mod wasn't installed correctly (mod folder name must be "Rise of Mankind").
I think AVG might be interfering with the mod on rare occasions also. I've had 3 occasions in my attempts to test the mod (out of about 12) where the mod has been selected to be loaded, the main BtS program exits but nothing happens. The bts program is still in the background under taskmanager, forcing the AVG exe's to close, seems to get it to run in these rare cases.
It may simply be however that enough time has passed on each occasion, and whatever was causing it to pause stopped. Once i had the mod try to start up three copies of itself, not the vanilla BtS version, which I could of put down to me double clicking it too many times, but the modded game .
I got RoM to work now. It just takes some time to load it up. However I am having trouble witht the Clash of Civilizations expansion. It's the same problem -- mod won't load up! I've already addressed this issue in the CoC forum.
