Unable to play or load any games (reproducible)

After Civ:BE updated itself as Rising Tide was released, I have been unable to start or load any games in Civ:BE.

When I attempt to start a new game, BE gets to the loading screen (where a quote from your Leader can be seen), the cursor has its rotating circle in it for about 15 seconds, and then reverts to the normal BE cursor. The green arrow that you select to take you to the game never appears.

I have:
Restarted my game
Restarted Steam
Restarted my computer
Verifying my game cache
Reinstalling the game
Reinstalling all of the mods that I was using
Reinstalling DirectX and Vcredist
Running Windows System File Checker
Run a legacy version of BE
Reinstalled graphics and audio drives, with a clean installation.
All to no avail

I have tried contacting 2K Support, who have taken me through a lot of seemingly generic troubleshooting steps, and they have now fallen silent.


Does anyone else have any other suggestions?


If I attempt to do anything involving mods or modded saves, I get the error messages seen in the attached files (some of which can recur 20+ times before moving to the next error message). Also attached is a DxDiag file for my machine.

Also, my sound seems to no longer be playing. Don't know if this is a different issue or related

For anyone who stumbles across this from your search engine of choice:

Try uninstalling the game, then going to Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common, and deleting the entire Beyond Earth folder. This resolved my issue
