Unable to remove Gods & Kings

I'm having huge trouble removing/disabling/uninstalling Gods & Kings expansion.
I'm not a fan of it - I prefer vanilla Civ 5, once religion is added in each turn takes so long.
I have Civ V Complete edition.
I've tried disabling G&K under the DLC menu, but it's still there when I play a game.
I've tried disabling it, then quitting and re-opening the game, and somehow it's re-enabled itself.
I've tried taking the 'expansion' file out of the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\DLC folder, and somehow it still manages to run with it on!
Can anyone help me with this? It's driving me nuts and I just want to play civ 5 without it D:

If you have Civ V complete, you also have BNW, so you will have all of the religion mechanics, even if you delete G&K.

Anyway, I don't have Complete (bought expansions as they came out), but if you go to your Steam library, right click Civ V, select Properties and go to the DLC tab, you should be able to uncheck G&K, which should uninstall that expansion.

In lieu of uninstalling, you can disable particular DLC from the DLC option on the main menu, but you have to do that every time you fire up Civ V, so that is a cludgy alternative.

If it comes with BNW, you have to uncheck that as well.
