If I attempt to run Civ I, I get an error window:

16 bit Windows Subsystem
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

CLOSE IGNORE

After hitting either button, the program closes. Does anyone have advice on how to fix this so that I can run the game?

Yup, dosbox is the way to go when nothing seems to work. Just be sure to read FAQs concerning it when it comes to mounting the drives etc. but that really isn't that hard.

OT: Turner_727, you live in the one tree hill? Like, the one with no tree? If so, this surely, must be the international forum with the highest kiwi to Aussie ratio :P

No, actually I live in the American Heartland. One Tree Hill is one of my favorite U2 songs, and at the time I put that in there it was especially, um, special, to me. I also had "I'll see you again when the moon as turned red over One Tree Hill" in my sig. I've since changed the quote, but not the location.
