I'm impressed, almost incredulous. My stack of 3 cannons all hit their targets in preparation for my assault on Zimbabwe just now. What I'm really impressed with however is these were the 3 hits:

1st bombardment - Destroyed The Zulu Palace
2nd bombardment - Destroyed The Great Wall
3rd bombardment - Pikeman injured (okay this is a bit of let down but it was a hit!)

All this with just cannons too! I had only 3 cannons, 3 cavalry and 2 riflemen in my stack. Zimbabwe was being defended by pikemen. They had 2 pikemen defending the city at the time of cannon fire and I'd popped a few off in the turns prior to the final assault. City was size 5. These were the first cannon shots I let loose on the city.

Few things from this:

- I didn't know you could destroy Wonders with bombardment. I've ridden hundreds of bombers over wonder laiden cities and fired hundreds of artillery shots in my time playing Civ and I don't think I've ever seen a Wonder being destroyed. Have I just been unlucky all this time?

- I got no Rep Hit for destroying the Great Wall. I checked F4 straight after and all the other nations in the world maintained the same attitude to me, 3 of them remaining gracious. So what is all this about destroying Wonders causing you a massive rep hit?

- Is there somewhere that clarifies what artillery units can take out what in C3C. Like bombers always seem to hit ships in a city first, then move on to the improvements and units. Naval units only seem to hit land units in a city and rarely take out improvements. That kind of thing. Any write up anywhere?

- And lastly BRING ON THE CANNONS!!! :goodjob:

There's a bug with bombarding and the Great Wall. Whenever you bombard a town, the first improvement it checks for to destroy is a wall (as it adds a defensive bonus). So it'll destroy it, eventually. However, if this town belongs to the civ that owns the Great Wall, then the game gives it back, etc, etc, and enters and infinite loop and crashes.

CORVEX: Well I didn't see the 5 pointed, palace star switching to another city after I destroyed the palace. I took the city straight after these cannon shots and only after taking the city did the capital switch.

GINGER ALE:
I've continued with the game and there has been no crash.

So is this a bug or what?

The "crash" bug occurs in PtW games modded to have the Great Wall give free walls to every town (all the recent GOTM games have been modded in this way).

In C3C, the bug is different, in that it can't destroy the Walls, so it goes down the list of things in the city and destroys the first thing it comes to. In this case, it was the Palace. At least it doesn't crash the game!
