People in Turkey got very excited after NASA showed some pictures of the universe. Below I'm posting the picture. You can find te same picture in this url: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap991031.html

In my second post, I'll attach a surah from the Quran. NASA could not make an explanation of this scene, however when the people that are knowledgable Islam saw it, they could explain it!

And below you can see the Surah Rahman, Line 55:

I don't think anyone knows what your talking about, or even cares.
Sorry, the truth hurts

Of course no-one knows about it Sun Tzu, that is why I posted it. But the ones that don't care like you... I can only say that is your problem! The truth will surely hurt you someday.

Oh by the way, I don't ....... care about your thoughts either. This is a truth, too. I hope it didn't hurt
lol.gif

And also I didn't post it for te people like you. I posted it for the people who are interested and eager to learn new things. Also I belive that the connection between the two pictures is obvious. I believe it is a fact. So, even the people that disagree with me will surely find this interesting.

No the truth doesn't hurt me.
So how about you tell us what this Arab folklore says instead of having all of our ancient historicl philosophers decypher what ever the hell your ranting

Well it all sound a bit like Nostradamus!!
Most of his prophecies came true, but only because it was so broad/vague that you could match them on so many different events.

It's like: Wow what the f*** was that? I don't know.... wait I think I read something about something that might have something to do with this... (and then people start digging out old texts and finally somebody stumbles over something that might just have something to do with what happened)

But back to you Surah of Quran - does that mean that I have to deny some lord/God now or what?? I can't really see what this has got to do with me since I don't believe in divine beings.....

Mm, why can't they explain that? Looks like a supernova dust cloud (like the Crab Nebula). Perhaps you mean NASA couldn't explain why the center "star" is shining so much (btw, what's its magnitude?)
Hey, yeah, it might be a pulsar envelopped by its funeral post-explosion "coat". But the colors surprise me. It's even more red than Orion.
Nice pic anyway. <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/goodwork.gif" border=0>

PS: I think there was also a quasi similar unexplained mystery with Eta Carenae

Added: Shadowdale, FYI (but I think you already knew it), All the Nostradamus "prophecies" appeared to be only "dreams". Explaination: I read that in a science magazine. A scientist investigated all the descriptions in Nostra's book. Then he came to the place the "prophet" lived. He discovered that many of what he described were actually landscape seen through his eyes. I'm not really clear but I'll take an exemple. The French king Louis XVI's escape at Varennes: it was supposed to be predicted by Nostradamus. Actually if you go to his former home, you can see that he was surely describing a horseman he saw once. And since the landscape was quite similar to Varennes, everybody thought he was prediciting that. Mm, not sure I convinced you. Didn't understand me?

Sun Tzu:

I'm sorry, but if you can say that this writing is an Arab folklore, then I have to say that you are an *******! You need to grow up and learn to be respectful to others' beleifs. You don't have to agree, but you have to be respectful. I can't even think of saying bible is some sort of a Jewish folklore or whatever. I don't belive in it, but since there are people in this forum that believe in it I have to be respectful. Remember! You have to behave like you behave in public in this forum. I doubt that you can talk like this to my face. If your attitude stays like this, I think Thunderfall should really think of banning you. You can believe in whatever you want, but you can't discuss about my beliefs. The only reason I posted this topic was to show how this is interesting.

shadowdale:

Not at all! If you read it carefully, you can see that it does not say "People will see this in future". It's a description of the space's shape, so that's got nothing to do with Nostradamus. And also these words can't be considered as broad words, come on! Calling space "a red rose" is something specific, not broad.

does that mean that I have to deny some lord/God now or what?? I can't really see what this has got to do with me since I don't believe in divine beings

Well according to my understanding this is a proof of God's existence. When I see a shape like this I can be sure that it did not create itself. Science can be te explanation of most things, but it can't explain "the creation from non-existence". It can explain the creation of planets and stars, but what about the whole space? Space is not nothing, even without the planets inside it, it is something. I mean at least it is something that exists, so therefore it had to be created one day if it exists now. I don't think science can explain this well since it's logic is "something can't just show up all by itself if it did not exist. Maybe your understanding is different than mine, I'm fine with that, and unlike Sun Tzu I can of course respect it.

GenghisK:
Hey, yeah, it might be a pulsar envelopped by its funeral post-explosion "coat". But the colors surprise me.

Not only the color, everything surprises me. The Quran says it's like a "RED ROSE". Why red? Why rose? Why not green, or why not tomato? I posted these because I believed that the people on this forum could find it interesting eventhough they did not believe in Quran. As a result it is interesting, right? Anyway, I can say that there are signs in the posts that might show in the end that I was wrong about expecting "at least respect".

To introduce a sense of proportion here, this celestial object - the Cat's Eye Nebula - is very very small when view with the naked eye. It appears as about 1% of the diameter of our moon. It would seem to me, therefore, this hardly qualifies as the sky being "torn apart". Not our sky at least.

My personal opinion is that the two things here - the Nebula and the Quran quote - are not specially related. If there is a prophecy due to come true, I suspect it will be far more obvious than this.

I can't see why all you guys didn't get the relationship between the quote and the picture....

TURK which Surah is that taken from? I want to see the context in which it's said.

I'd like to say something personal to you. Piss off!!!! You are not welcome in my topic. Since I started this discussion, I don't want you in it. But with this lack of honor, I'm sure that you'll post more to this topic anyway, but I'm telling you, I have nothing to discuss with the ones like you. And if you are interested in the Surah just look it up, 55th Surah named ar Rahman. It writes there, are you blind???

stormerne:
Because Quran is not a book that teaches science, this istuation is normal. You could not tell the old Arabs about the Nebula and stuff, right? So it is normal that it does not use scientific language. And of course the two pictures are not 100% related of course. As much as I understood it says that the whole space's shape is like this. And also it's normal to use the phrase "when the sky is torn apart". If you were God, how else would you explain this to the stupid Arabs of that time? Scientifically??? No.

If I were a god I think I would draw their attention to something rather larger than 1/850000000th of the size of the sky!

Well you know I must admit that I don't really associate that pic with a rose, to me it's just two red circles with a blue center!!!

I mean when you say it's a rose then I can see some similarities but not enough to make me think of it as a rose..

Sorry but this is a rose to me: http://www.rosenselskabet.dk/

Hmmm I need to talk to somebody that can teach me how to put images in my posts and not just URL's

I smell a forum nazi in the air. You can't stop people from replying to your posts I'm afraid, that is what a forum is all about. And with any more personal insults like that flying around my crystal ball says that you may be due for a holiday soon TURK.

Oh I'm so sorry master......we won't post in your topics anymore.....so sorry.

Yeah right. You have no right to say who can and can't post in the forum. I can't even do that. So you better get your head on striaght and respect other posters and their opinions.

On another note....that's a really nice picture!!! But I doubt it has religious implications. But I don't beleive that any religion is correct. I actually.....well, I'm not going to get into that now. But I'm sure it was just a collision of celistrial bodies, or formation of another object all together. Who knows....it could be the mating call of a space faring organism
