I downloaded it from GitHub as desktop game, too.

What do you think of this project? I find it refreshing and very nice...
It has some challanging AI...

At Civforum.de a civer shows the gameplay of the German version of Unciv in a sequence of -at present- 10 videos. The graphics are very poor, but the containt is impressive for a free civ-game. So the texts and the comments in the videos are in German, may be a look into those videos can be interesting. I like it quite a lot. It offers a no thrills version of Civ V with all meat intact. I gotta admit that I find AI sillier than the one in Civ V. and the game's little too stretched. For a mobile version I would try to make it wee faster.
Overall, it's an admirable offer full of features and a good entrance point for people short on money.
