Unexplained Crash

I am playing the UK version on DVD. I had the renderer initialisation problem which i managed to fix. But the game still does not work. I started up the game started a new world and now when ever i commit any kind of action other than movement the program crashes to windows. When end turn the it also crashes. I am very disappointed with this game as i was looking forward to it with great anticipation. Now i have had it for a week and still no play.

Can anyone help me with this problem. I have also tried to increase virtual memory to 2048 to 4096.

Hi are you playing huge map ?? Most of us here have problems with huge maps
Here is what you can do :
Download patch 1.09 from the civ4 website,
download the software from nvhardpage.com to get the best for your graphics cards
Avoid huge maps (hugely recommended)
Set all graphics to low
There are many patches from the fellow civ4 fanatics here I really does help much. Though I still crash ... it improves from one crash/turn to 2 crash/turn

Thanks for the solution but it didnt work. I have now returned the game as i have not had 1 single minuate of play and i have had it for a week. Just had enough. Sort it out Firaxis, this shoddy programming.
