is there an uninstaller for this game? i can't seem to find one and my help file is missing somehow. or do i just have to use windows uninstaller??

Here's a big problem people.
I need to uninstall the game because it is seriously messed up after i updated my ATI drive for another game. Now the game will not run period.
I have tried to remove it from the control panel. failed because it could not find some files.
I tried manually uninstall by deleting all traces of the game but it did not work. (then i restored it to prevent further damage) I searched the forum but could not find an answer as how to fix this problem!
I tried re-installing and it did not work. It said the disc is patch 1.09 and the game i have on the computer is 1.61 therefore i need to peel off the patch before I can uninstall. I have absolutely no clue how to do that.
Anyone could help me out??

You can't 'peel off' a patch, unfortunately, I don't believe.
IIRC you would need to delete:
1. /program files/firaxis/SMC4
2. /my documents/my games/smc4/
3. REGISTRY:
* /firaxis/smc4
* the installshield key (I don't recall how to find this, but it's possible)
Don't play with the registry unless you are quite competent with such things. Some registry cleaning tools can do this for you, but a) back up the registry and b) be very careful as some reg cleaners are malware.

Open the program files folder.
Click on the tools menu then choose folder options
Click on the view tab and tick the box labelled "show hidden files and folders". Press OK
Open the installshield installation information folder
Search for a folder named {CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3BF-D6E01F4112E8}
Right click on the folder and choose rename. Press the End key on the keyboard and type the word OLD. Press the enter key
Insert the Civilization IV install CD and open My Computer. Right click on the CD drive and choose explore,
Locate the setup.exe file and double click.
This will replace and overwrite any missing components that were preventing the game from being uninstalled normally
To uninstall the game, go to Control Panel>> Add/Remove programs and highlight the game in the list. Choose change/remove and follow the onscreen prompts

Hello,
I followed these steps to reinstall and now that my game has reinstalled it gives me this error:
"This application has failed to start because D3Dx9_32.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." With an Ok option that closes the window.
Could anyone assist me with this?
