Hi all,

I am looking for information about uninstalling CivII on a computer running Windows XP. Unlike CivIII and CivIV, CivII does not appear in the Add/Remove programs list on my computer, and I cannot find a way to uninstall it. I know in the good ol' DOS days, one could just delete the folder and be done with it, but generally speaking that's a bad idea with Windows!

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Well, seeing as Civ2 dates back to Windows 3.1 days, deleting the folder is exactly what you should do to uninstall it. And, to be complete, also remove any shortcuts (from your desktop/start menu) and delete the civ.ini file in the Windows folder...

That is assuming you're talking about "classic" Civ2, not MGE or Test of Time. But then those *do* appear in the Add/Remove programs list.

Don't forget to store your savegames and Hall of Fame (hallfame.dat) somewhere safely though, because it's only a matter of time before you come crawling back! ;)

Thank you kindly!

I am giving my mother my old computer, and I'm clearing as much hard drive space as I can, so Civ has to go! But no worries about the savegames: I transferred them to my new computer months ago, when I installed Civ onto it! ;)

Thanks again!
