I heard that in the expansion pack, as well as new leaders/units/civs etc. I read about unique buildings.

I'm just wondering how they will find a unique building for everyone. :crazyeye:
And how will they affect the city? I wonder if they will all be the same or similar  doubt it.
Anyway, everyone, what do you think they will add as unique buildings for the civs.

The only ones I can think of at the top of my head is a Roman Bathhouse and an Incan Ball Court.

I haven't heard much about the Unique Buildings so far, so I can't really answer most of your questions.

For some UB suggestions:
Mongolia - Yurts

:p lol, I was expecting that.
I mean what do you think would be the best unique building fit for that civ? :crazyeye:

Does anybody know if it will be a completely new building or will replace the standard building as is currently the case with units (i.e. jaguar replaces swordsman, redcoat replaces rifle, etc.)?

I would guess that it replaces a common building and expand the benefits or lower the costs.

But this already exists in the game to some extent. Financial civs have half-cost banks, and industrious civs have half-cost forges. They will have to be careful to not make these unique buildings too overpowered from synergies with existing bonuses.

I have a suggestion. For China all walls will be replaced by "The great Wall of China". Bonus is protection from gunpowder too. Too Unique Maybe.

I can imagine some buildings for the older civilizations like the Romans or the Chinese, but what do you do with modern civilizations. The modern civilizations like England, US, France are culturally all very similar. How do you justify giving one a building that the other cannot build? I think that the unique buildings were a rather strange decision. Better to just add a few buildings that everybody can build. That would have added more to the game in my opinion. If you have to add a building for every civilization, then you add a lot of artwork and it will be more difficult to balance and you can only use one of these buildings in a given game.

Well France gets the Gilotine, England gets the National Geographical Society and US gets the ... the ... well everything they had is already in as a national wonder so I have no idea.

It would make more sense that a leader trait would signify the unique building since most of the unique buildings are in the game as a world/national wonder.

Will the USA get "crack houses?" Will they give us plus 1 smiley face and 1 green yucky face, or what? Or how about Starbucks to increase productivity? The union hall to give us - what? (I've never been to one.)

I think these unique buildings may have something to do with the Warlords theme. Perhaps something to help generate Great Warlord Points? Or maybee they are buildings that create unique units like some of the Conquest Wonders did??

And what UB would you propose for persians or mali?

The United States should get Stadiums for professional sports -- extra happy faces and perhaps an increase in commerce as a result. Roman bath-houses are a good idea, though weren't they originally a Greek thing? I would probably say Madrasas for the Arabs, though that might go too far with Saladin already being Philosophical and having half-cost Universities... England might do well with Tea Houses, though I don't know what they'd give -- so perhaps something linked to sea trade? The French coffee houses played a big role in percolating the revolution, so perhaps that?

Those are pretty much the only ideas I've had so far beyond what has already been said...

I think they should produce culture, cause they are import parts of the English/French way of life.

Germans get teh Beer Hall.
Americans get the Crack House (originally mentioned above :) )
Japan gets the Pachinco parlor
The Aztecs get the Chocolate Factory
The Incans get the Llama farm.
England gets Lloyds of London (an insurance firm which replaces lost units and buildings for a nominal fee)

Are we sure that these buildings will even have special abilities?

It is possible that they will be just normal buildings with unique artwork?

ACTUAL IDEAS:

Note: Bonuses listed are in addition to normal benefits

The Gulag
Russian, replaces jail, adds +1 hammer

The Agoge
Greek, replaces barracks, +4 experience per unit, military units hault population growth

The Ivy League College
American, replaces university, +25% Great People generation

Royal Tomb
Egyptian, replaces obselisk, +3 culture, never becomes obselete
