I was poking around in the FFH2 directory to try to get the names of some of the sound track... tracks... and I noticed something in the unit sound assets folder: There are sounds for Hill Giants and Hawks (and also ravens - Sheaim hawks?), but mine speak Dutch or something. Is is possible the units are pointed to the wrong file for their unit sounds?

Spoiler :
Also noticed the classic Warcraft Orc Peon "Ready to Work" in there. Easter Egg?
Also, is there any ongoing work in developing dialog/sound effects for all the special units in the game? It would be great if my Tar Demons stopped speaking Swahili in a high pitched voice and actually made a gooey bubbling noise or something. Having random human languages for the various normal units is fine I guess, but Wood Golems shouldn't sound the same as my German infantry. What about tech research quotes? None of the mods or scenarios I've played have had quotes for their custom techs; is it even possible to put custom tech discovery narration in a mod?

I might be able to help with this. I don't exactly have a recording studio in my apartment but I have some sound editing software and can do a passable version of various dialects. I also know a Tolkien scholar/hobbyist who claims to speak elven. I'm not promising the soothing sounds of the Nimoy or anything, but I can do a better job than that hack who did tech discovery quotes for the ones that were new in BtS.

Vampires have nice selection sounds, so it's possible to tie sound to unit rather than civ.

You are right about this. IMO I'd rather have some units, like golems, not speak at all rather than speak german.

You have a very good point, actually. Some units speak when they really shouldn't. It's a noticeable thing, but it's so minor that I keep forgetting to mention it here.

Also, somewhat related, I LOVE Losha Valas' sounds. She's among my favorite heroes just for that.

This would be AWESOME.

(answer: yes, as earlier versions of FfH (I don't know about now) has a monty python skit for "Malevolent Designs")

These really enhanced the flavour of vanilla civ, so they'd be invaluable here. Just need someone to write them...?

Are there any plans from the art folks to work on more sound files or would they like some folks to start submitting stuff? I imagine it would really start to bulk up the mod's download size if a lot of new sound files were included. Perhaps more sounds should be included in the media pack?

Who was the moron that thought letting Elohim monks scream 'Heil Hitler!' is even remotedly funny?

Modding sounds is a good idea. The visual sense always gets all the attention. Not just in this mod, or games in general, but everywhere.

Isn't it one of the female voice selections from Neverwinter Nights 2?
Quite possible, though it doesn't show up on her list of work. That voice actress, [wiki]Grey_DeLisle[/wiki], has done a LOT of work in video games including the Baldur's Gate games which was my guess for the source. I recognize her all the time now after hearing her voicing the Azula character from [wiki=Avatar_airbender]Avatar: The Last Airbender[/wiki]. Also noticed her voicing some random NPCs recently while playing through Knights of the Old Republic. If you look at her work history, she is literally everywhere.

I think you are hearing what you want to hear.

They use the Incan unit sounds, IIRC.

I'd really like to know what the eagle keeps saying though. Sounds like some crazy dutchman running out of a drug den high as a gourd on coke and just rambling to himself.

If anyone speaks the language, please enlighten me before this degenerates into me calling long distance to Holland to find out. Please.

It's really off-putting to hear Hyborem's roars and the imps' and diseased corpses' groans while when clicking on Meshabber of Dis, it's just a normal human voice speaking.
