been looking thru the unit mod forums/downloads and have yet to figure out the exact process for installing and overwriting existing files to change unit graphics.

i've been wanting to change the appearance of the mech infantry unit (looks like it's made out of gold!) to more of a camo look (downloaded mech inf-256.dds) that i came across, maybe there are others.

i'd also like to change modern armour to a graphic that eliminates the two white spots that loof like eyeballs or something...)

wouldn't mind changing the "tank" to a PZIV, instead of a sherman, too.

so looking for some newbie guidance here, as the process does not seem too intuitive. :help:

any modern armor graphics changes out there?

i plan to use the changes for both BTS and warlords.

thanks in advance, excellent forum btw.

You don't actually overwrite files... it's suggested to put the files in "MOD" format... place your art in the mod folder, copy the XML files you need to change (and you'll need to change 2 to 3 XML files per unit you want to change), and go that route.

Or, you can just download an existing mod that already has the work done for you... my own Wolfshanze Mod for instance has distinct units for every nation, differant fighters, jets, tanks, etc, etc...

Once you get into modding, you can get carried away, but swapping units doesn't mean you overwrite a graphic file... it's more involved then that, as you need to change at least two or three XML files per swap.

thanks for the input and link to ur mod which i've now downloaded and installed.

installing those reskins looks like a bit of work, i'm sure there's a link somewhere that lays out the procedures step by step. however, ur mod takes care of that!

got a few questions about ur mod tho. the units for the industrial era look fantastic, but i wonder if u really get to enjoy them before discovering techs that will obsolete a lot of the ship, plane and AFV units. does the game have to be played on epic or ancient to draw out the industrial era, or have u found a way to extend the era (longer research times?).

also i'd love to play the germans but am wondering if the swastika flag can be toggled off in some way until the appropriate era is reached to display it. having the bright swastika flag in my face from 4000 BC on, is a bit much. afterall the germans were only nazi's for a brief historical period, not even twenty years. :old:

anyway, minor quibbles, can't wait to find the time to launch a new game, using ur mod...
