Well, here's the preview of my next big unit project:

The Makou Cannon from Final Fantasy VII (a.k.a the Sister Ray). First I'd like to thank Wyrmshadow, whose generous contribution of the most exellent model allowed for a much earlier than anticipated start to this model. Basically it's a really huge city defense weapon. Final Fantasy mod stats are as follows:

Movement: Immobile, but can be airlifted to other cities with Airports.
Attack: 0
Defense: 24
Bombard: 30 Lethal land & sea bombardment
Bombard range: somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 tiles.
Shield cost: Lots, somewhere around 500-1000
Other limitations/specials: Can build only 1 at a time (otherwise the game would be just a little unbalanced)
Required resources: Mythril and Materia.
Required Advancement: Makou Energy (a.k.a Fission)

Below is a preview of the default animation (which is almost finished, all 1 frames of it :p). Blue is the civ color this time, since there is not much chance of the materials i used to be rendered as civ color blue when I reduce the color depth of this unit, although considering that it is an immobile unit, I'm half tempted to dispense with the civ colors altogether. Only the results of the first animation attempt will tell...

Well, comments, suggestions, etc welcome. :)

Edit: Fidget and Attack Animation done, preview below.

looks good, now all we need is a Sapphire or Diamond Weapon unit to get blown up by it

Feel free to make 'em if you want. ;)

Mr. Do: I'm going to attempt to use the technique that the game uses to prevent haveing more than one Great Leader at a time. If that fails, I'll just ask the Lord of the Mods team members, since they figured out a way to limit Mordor to only being able to have 9 Nazgul units at any given time.

BTW, I've got the fidget/fortify animation done. I'll work on the attack and death tonight. Depending on progress for these, I may even throw in a victory animation. If all goes well, I should have this sucker finished before Sunday.

But I won't guarantee anything, with my work schedule being the way it is.

I plan on making my own version eventually. Along with some other fixed defences.

Well, here's my first update. I've posted a preview for the finished fidget and attack animations in the first post. Do to some unexpected stuff coming up, I won't be able to finish the unit tonight, but I should have it finished by Saturday night or Sunday morning. All I have left to do is the death animation, and it's already set up in Bryce. It just needs to be rendered.

Unless, that is, someone has some ideas for a victory animation.

Wyrm: I kinda suspected you had ulterior motives for keeping that model on your HD. Also, thanks for linking me to that Tarawa class you did a while back. Very accurate and well done. The only mistakes I found were in the number and placement of the weapons systems, but I'm actually kind of glad about that. I wouldn't want some random terrorist to gain access to classified info just by looking at your unit.
