Thanks for the input!
I started this unit more than a month ago so if you say it looks good then this is because I invested a lot of time into it (I just want to say that because I´m no master of modelling or something like that). This does not mean I don´t like to hear your praise
Light Infantry would be alright too. But the original marine already seems to have some kind of body armor and a machinegun so the stats should not be too powerful.
Are today´s soldiers really better in the defense than in the offense?
I have plans to create some 'special commandos' with up-to-date equipment(I also had the OICW in mind), the unit here has just standard equipment.
I have to add that I did not play civ3 much in the modern times, my games usually end shortly after I enter the last era (and when did I play the last time civ3.....?)
As level already said, I use 3dmax for modelling and a special plugin for the animation. This helps a lot but sometimes it makes me just crazy because it does things I don´t want it to do.
I still have to do all the animation frame by frame, no motion capturing here

and of course I still have to cut&paste.
Thanks dannyevilcat for the description although it´s a bit too short (background is very good) but I don´t complain.
Yep, all animations are done (may still edit some of them, like the drinking animation) and you just delivered the decription for the unit so there are only the sounds left and I still have to cut&paste about 920 frames but this is really no problem
I forgot to add that the soldier fires twice in the attack animation and then looks up to see if he hit the target.
