Looking Good! And yes... you should make his pants (or maybe just a prt of his pants* Civ, specific. Not enough Color otherwise. Then again, this will be a UU so it doesn't Really mater, but... yeah.

Since this is such a UU, maybe you should leave it as is and not make the pants civ-specific.

About the civ-colouring: just make the scarf around his neck twice as thick
- I think too, that this unit is so specific, that the regular amount of civ-colouring is not necessary

Excellent unit!! I aggree with those who say that Civ-specific coloring is not needed, or perhaps make the top of his helmet civ-specific. This looks perfect for the Yevon warrior monk UU in my FF game.

I agree with most other people in that the unit really dosent need it. though the only good looking place i can imagin would be if you made a bacback or somthing with the imperial symbol on it or somthing
the other thing is the gun- or specifically the colour- this guy strikes me as either coming from modern times (which is what I was thinking when I first saw the art work), and really dosent have "wooden hafted rifle feel to him", and although I weoul hope you woul dmake a modern counterpart with a metal gun anyway (), I think this guy also has very a "feel" to him that he should have a metal gun as well- perhaps you could try it out with that color, and see what it looks like

what armies are you talking baout? I know that at least in the US, no military equipment has any wood on it any longer- its all more or less military grade (I'm assuming, since thier are "gun metal" made items, that such a distinction exists) steel/ other metal...
besides, the Infantry man in civ3 represetns both WWI, and WWII type troops- no reason he cant have the rifle from WWI, but with a more WWIIish feel by making it metal

Hmm, Thor is probaly the only one who can anwser this Q about what the stock is made of. But the US uses for the most part cheap plastic for it's sniper rifles.
And the M16 was not a bit of wood in it either. I know before the M16 most if not all of the worlds weapons had a wooden but. Through I think that was more in keeping with tradation then anything else. The only weapons that I know of that did not have wood in them were submachine guns and Machine guns.

if any more civ coloring is added I think a patch or stripe on the legs would be the place for it.
as for the rifle, keep it as it is, please. This is supposed to be WWI, so, as you know, the design you have going now is most appropriate.

Yeah, it looks great to me!
He looks good except for one thing.. he's fat. I'd like to see him closer to the size of the Firaxis American, British, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and normal infantry unit. Also his pants need to be more WWI/WWII style where they aren't as long as normal pants and socks are hiked up. Still it's a nice job.
