Unit Preview: Modern Legionary

Fat?:hmm::confused:

First he's too small now he's too big  The pants are a good idea except for the fact that he's wearing big ass boots... I've made a few slight color alterations and added a blue stripe to the top of his boots, maybe that will help seperate the pants from the boots... Setup this animation next to the original infantry/ptw infantries and let me know what you think for the size... I do need to make a few touch-ups to this animation but you get the idea.

Hehehe! I know its just a Civ-Scale thing, but when he is reloading it kind of looks liekhe is winding it up! Heehee! Not a prblem, though.

I like it! :)

The animation is fine, and I think the civ colours work realy well, people often don't consider how well they will show up from every angle, but I think this guy should be identifiable from any direction.

I think the problems of scale are just down to the fact that while his boots and trousers are quite bulky, he's not got much above the waist (no backpack or whatever) and his arms are quite thin. Perhaps he just needs a little evening out.

I sort of like that look... Like the rifleman with his wide pant-legs.
I've sort of been trying to avoid a full on backpack... But I could try one on and see what it looks like.

Haven't you ever heard of the Mauser 7.62 WindUp 1898? I admit it wasn't as widely used as the bolt action but it gained more popularity when they got rid of the little tune that played when you turned it... Tended to give your position away :D

Kinboat,

I think the unit looks perfectly fine (especially for what I'm going to be using him for).

Also, the animation looks like what you'd see when someone is working a bolt action. I really can't wait until this sucker is finished.

the emperor would be pleased :goodjob:

Looks great! I can't wait to put him in my mod.

What most of the people who are complaining about his bulky pants fail to realize is that you only have the tailored uniforms in Garrison duty or parades. ;)
In the field and combat your field uniform IS quite baggy. As this is a combat unit i think the baggy trousers are quite good. :)

Cheers Thorgrimm

I for one like the "bulky" look- makes him look more tough, or at leas tmore instyle, as bulky pants are generally considerd more "in" then tight pants on guys ;)

though i suppose the lower abdomin (torso?) could be trimmed up a bit, e dose look abit heavy set in that regard

:rotfl:

You do realize now you have to make a unit using that weapon? And on the fidget it would go:

All around the Mullberry bush, the monkey chased the weasel....

Looks great, Kinboat!

Now to see the size.;)

Of course, when this is finished, someone will need to make an ancient era American aircraft...

 errr- right
I think he is making a statement about the fact that this unit is being made for use with Rome, when Rome no longer exists.  ONly problem is Aircraft were not around in the ancient era :p :D

Only problem is Roman Legionaries were not around in the modern era!

(Yeah, okay okay, I get yer point, tho...)

but if rome had survived into modern times, it would havre had legions- or at least troops called legionaries- as even far after the classic legion had faded away, western Roman, and the Eastern Roman/Byzantine empire contiued to call thier main troops "legionaries" unil the lingual reforms of Heraclius in the east.
