Unit Preview: Modern Legionary

Maybe this unit shall pave the way for a Roman Cavalry unit.;) Uh-oh. Did I just give Xen an idea?;)

nah, as it is, while it would be aweosme for a roman cavalryman, the current cavalryman is already rather haevilly Roman in look, juts because th era it coems from was, stylistically, a reflowering fo the Roman style asthetic in armour, and helmets ;)

what i woudl really like is that true modern legionar, and a napoleonic era type legionay ;) as that would mor eor less complete the Roman unique infantry line, and thus my job in endlesslly advocateing roman units would be, more or less, complete :)

A good example of that is the French Foreign Legion.

I wonder what Xen will advocate after Roman units...;)

Here's a preview of him with a backpack and without... I won't nessecarily go with a majority of opinion but with the most eloquent  Let the games begin (and as a side note I won't be doing a version of him with and a version of him without so that option is off the table).

He looks more svelte without the backpack. ;)

And I never thought he was chubby in the first place!

I say he looks best without the backpack.

I think he looks better without the backpack.

With the backpack looks much better IMO.

lol, Iike them both, though my brother say with the backpack he looks like a paratrooper, and without it a marine "or somthin", though hes kinda weird ;)

that said both are awesome- though for WW1, withough would be better, and for a modern one, a back back of somesort would be cool ;)

Backpack reminds me of a jetpack and I can't get that idea out of my head. So I vote for no backpack. (that's not the only reason, I think he looks better too without it)

(although, if you were to make it a jetpack and give it an airdrop animation with flames coming out of the jetpack, it would be too cool to pass up. )

Hey! He put on the Jetpack! All he needs now is the Stilts and the Kilt!

I go with the flo'- yet not merely for going with the flowing- more so since I think the Roman lad looks best without backpack. The little bag instead has something a trench soldier would carry (be that his food ration or his gas mask container)- you don't want to carry even your light march gear with yourself in combat...

sorry to bring threat off track....

@winter- by any chance have you heard of a band called 'Queens of the Stonge age"and thier song called 'go with the flow'?
@everyone- i stronglly urge you to listen to the song I just mentioned, the video is also hella cool ;)

I think he looks better without the rucksack, though IIRC WW1 troops did wear them in combat (saw something on the history channel about it).

I know that French soldiers did, but if I remember correctly, American Marines wore the bedroll/field pack config, like this guy.

That being said, I vote no backpack.

I think he looks better with the backpack, I hate the look of a rucksack poking out around the waste with nothing to level it on the back. I also differ about the baggy pants and trousers with hiked up socks. I still think he looks fat, but heh.. Looks pretty good although I'd prefer it to resemble the other infantry units more.
