Q1 what are the good points of my civilization having the UN ?

all good point i can think of is just being made Secretary General n finsh up a diplomat Victory.

Q2 if u not elected secretary general, then will the point of u having the UN wasted ?

Q3 any good tips how to be elected as secretary general ?

Q1 gives u culture pts and helps that city make the top 5 cities list

Q2 no u still have a wonder and it will give u culture pts, besides u will be asked for elections every some 15 years or so if nobody wins.

Q3 take time to give little gifts or make a lot of trades during ur game leading upto the UN. if u have gone into war with someone and they are still around and furious at you, try to get rid of them completely. keep ur rep clean.

And of course if you have the UN you get the choice of allowing a vote - you can decilne and prevent another civ allowing the vote and winning a diplo victory against you.

A rule of the thumb is to consider everybody who is polite with you on your side except those that would be allowed to vote for themselves, of course.

Make sure you know how the vote will go before you call it 'cause you might lose and then there was no point in building the UN in the first place. Of course you could reload ...

Right. One of three things can happen when there is a UN election:

1. You might win.
2. You might lose the election, but not the game, because no one else wins.
3. You might lose the game.

If you are sure that number 2 is the case, go ahead and don't build the UN. But only if you are sure, and sure the situation won't change in the future. If you believe 1 or 3 is the case, you must control the UN. That way, if you know another civ will win the election, you can merely not have an election.
