Unknown graphics bug (shifting icons)

Alright, so I got G+K last week and it worked fine. My OS quit working on me and I got it re-installed and finished loading all drivers so everything SHOULD have been back to normal. Re-installed the game, which works, although I've got a bug...not sure if it's Civ specific or maybe it's a graphics problem on my computer.

There's two real places it's notable, first in the city screen. When you try to manually move citizens, the little face box where they are green smilys/locked boxes is now off center. It shows the "blockade" a little to the right of the box and nothing in the box, and I can still lock it down, but the box shows nothing. It's almost as if they've got a little tiny box of all possible things that could be displayed in the little circle and it's all right there.

Second, when I go to the tech screen, all the world wonders are similiar. Instead of displaying the world wonder associated with a specific tech, it'll show 4-5 really tiny wonders from that era. When I scroll over it it still comes up with the right info. It's also displayed that way in the city screen (wonders only, all units/buildings are fine).

Lastly, in the culture popup, when you first get to select a tree, the background pictures are pulled to the forefront. After you select something in a tree, the background goes back where it should, but the other trees still have the background in the forefront.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've already re-installed the game and rebooted my computer several times. I've tried messing with some of the graphics in-game but it doesn't seem to change anything. DXdiag is attached. Thanks!

You could try looking for newer video drivers for that Intel G41 Express Chipset.

Or you could purchase a Nvidea GT 430 or greater video card and install it.

If you are satisfied with the performance, loading just newer drivers, should take care of that bug.

If you are tired of late game slow down, you will need a newer computer.

Edit: If you put in a graphics card, you will have to find a small factor power supply also. Not sure if I would just get a card that will run on a 250 watt PSU. This Dell may only have a 250 watt PSU, and it needs at least 300 watts to run a good GPU. If you can verify that it does have a 300, then you are ok.

I guess I hadn't updated my graphics card after all...fixed it. Thanks!

Dan4GS, did you update drivers or buy a new videocard eventually? Because I have exactly the same glitch with displaced icons in city screen and tech tree.

Additionally, my game freezes for several seconds every time while displaying some hover tooltips (scientific research and city-states info notably). My computer is rather old, but i'm not planning to upgrade it unless absolutely necessary. Anyone else having this problem?

I updated my video card driver and that solved the problem. I think my remaining issues with slow turn processing is more due to my crappy CPU instead of my average video card. Hope that helps!
