Unofficial updates for Civ4 and BTS?

Howdy. After a break I have come back to Civ4 and Beyond the Sword. I have updated the game with the official patch and wanted to know if there are 'un-official' patches to improve AI or what not available. I play 'Next War' pretty much exclusively and wanted to know if there is anything out there that I should install.

Also it has been two years since I visited this forum, can anyone quickly run down what I do for install of mods/patches into my game. I have done it many times before but I am suffering from being the very old age of 42 and I cannot seem to remember what the hell I am supposed to do..

Since you're coming back to the game, you'd have more fun with an expansion pack. It should really peak your interest in the game again. Legends of Revolution is an unofficial expansion project that's completely stable with no known bugs in it (for single player, MP does not work yet unfortunately) and it expands the game as much as Beyond the Sword did from Vanilla civ, no more, it's just a neat and concise free expansion for the game. No complex instructions for it either, you just download and install, then you can play it by clicking on the shortcut(s) you told the installer to make to launch it instead of Vanilla Civ or BtS (it will group it's shortcut with the other civ4 shortcuts if they exist).

Thanks. I have the game updated to 3.17 I think with its official patch. What does the un-official patch do & why? (asking you to tell me is a lot I suppose but hey I have ask)...

Can I install 'just the 3.19' or do I need the previous 3.17 un-official patch as well?

You need 3.19 for the unofficial patch. There should be a thread in there with instructions on how to install it. Personally with content I work on I go with installers so that I ensure the user doesn't screw things up, but the UP is old school so you'll need to read it's installation instructions and follow them, and again you will need to patch BtS to 3.19 for it to work.

Okie Dokie. I may be mistaken in what version my game is patched to. I do know that is is updated to the point where there is 'no patch at this time' message. If that is 3.19 than that is what my game is patched at.

Does the un-official patch also include the material from the 'un-official' patch of 3.17?

I am a solo player so I am not overly concerned with Multi-play very much. Does the un-official improve the AI and other tidbits?

Do any of you recommend a particular mod?

Are there mods for 'Next War' (mod) or any mods that include it? Are there problems with Next war that I should perhaps be aware of?
