Hi there!

I have been using VEM/CivUP for quite a while now and am absolutely in love with it! So first off: Thank you all for your amazing work!

Unfortunately, following an update to 166, the mod causes the game to crash when starting a new game. The crash is definitely caused by this mod, as it is the only one enabled for testing purposes. I have already done the following:
  • Deleted and redownloaded the mod
  • Deleted the Civ5ModsDatabase.db file (causing a redownload of the mods)
  • Deleted the entire Cache folder
  • Had the integrity of my local Civ files checked by Steam

As I absolutely love this mod and don't want to play the game without it, I would be happy for any advice anyone can give me here!

Thank you!

Thanks for bringing this up; I'll see what I can do.

Edit: I started a game with vem v166 without problems. Have you tried everything on the common checklist?

Thank you for taking the time to answer me!

Yes, I have tried everything on the common checklist. I have even uninstalled the entire game (including deleting the Civ 5 directory in "My Games"), reinstalled the game, installed only VEM 166 -> Civ 5 crashes when starting a new game. :( I have no idea what could be causing this...

EDIT: Is it possible to download an older version of the mod somewhere? I would love to check if everything works with the previous-to-last version!

Here is the most recent version (earlier than VEM 166) that I have access to.

Please keep in mnd that this version was optimized for Civ-5 patch v511.

Best wishes!
@ Torvald: Thanks!

@ Everyone: Now I am utterly confused. I just clicked through the download links of VEM and realized, I was seemingly using the wrong version the whole time?!??! I have the G&K expansion, so using VEM 166 was completely wrong, right? The version I should be using is either CivUP 25 or GEM 1.03 beta, right? The strange thing is, that VEM was working fine without any problems until the 166 update... I was already using VEM before G&K was released so I never realized that there were two different versions for Vanilla and G&K. So I fear I was just being stupid the whole time! :D

Vanilla and the G&K expansion are very similar, so it makes sense they worked for a while. As you said, the vanilla enhanced mod (vem) is for vanilla, and the independent civup/gem mods are for G&K. I'm glad you solved your problem. :)
