Updated guides?

Hello, I've been looking around and I saw the modding tutorial, but it says that it's outdated. Where can I find an updated guide? Especially for adding technologies and making new upgrade paths as I'm considering making CJ's More Than a Future mod into something more than imports of units from Beyond Earth. Thanks.
