pre-release info Detailed Civ and Leader Comparison Charts

pre-release info
I see you caught Rome's Basilica change to Influence
I still do not understand what change is talked about. The Basilica has always been Gold base (its own basic yield), Influence adjacency for Culture Building (meaning it gains Influence boosted by specialists next to a Culture Building). Or maybe the error was on what was transcripted on user-produced resources?

I'm not sure if it was a transcription from the civ guide or the antiquity stream, but myself and others had the Basilica giving a Happiness adjancecy bonus

Hi all, I’ve been keeping a personal series of charts that displays the Uniques for the Civs and Leaders in a way that I find more readable, and much easier to compare, than the official Game Guides. I’ve noticed a few folks have indicated that they would like to see something like this so here you are.

These charts include very basic analysis for quick reference including: Main Yields, Terrain Preferences and Keywords. At the end I have included another chart of all civs with more extensive analysis as well, but didn’t want to color these basic charts too much to allow for people to come up with their own ideas.

I will endeavor to keep this updated, please inform me of anything I missed or erred on. I have been searching for specific abilities beyond the vagaries of the game guides, so if anyone has info for exact numbers for abilities not yet included here I would appreciate them!

They are a rather large size, so I would consider downloading them if not on a full sized monitor.

For more concise charts (created by @Siptah), see this post - they are excellent for quick comparisons and are much easier to read on smaller screens!

Antiquity Age Civilizations:

Exploration Age Civilizations:

Modern Age Civilizations:

Leaders:

Lastly I have this chart which includes a certain amount of analysis in the interest of theorycrafting future runs. It is still very much a work in progress, especially wrt Wonders and Leaders.
You are an absolute king for making this, thanks!

Very nice table!

I really wish the wiki would move away from fandom, it's just not possible to have tables like this on that restricted bit of space each page has there.

Updated OP with Meiji Japan

I must admit to whishing this without daring to ask for it, yes :thanx:
Ok, I’ll try to have that for the next update.

Feel free to make requests! I can’t guarantee I’ll include them, but I’m always happy hear if there’s anything that could add to the usefulness of the charts.

Would you consider sharing it in more original format than those images are? If possible.

Sure - what format would you prefer? A link to the icloud Numbers page (would have to be read only), or a spreadsheet file, or ?
I will get both work! Thanks!

However icloud numbers is something I have used very little.

Thus in wishlist maybe spreadsheet file would be slightly favored.

Updated OP with
  • Friedrich
  • Prussia
  • Details on various civs' abilities, especially Persia, Abbasid and Mongolia
  • First pass on adding Wonders to Analysis chart
  • Added Agendas on Leaders as per request from @tedhebert
  • Attached a copy of all charts as excel file as per request above from @Riconatic (It lost images and formatting but all relevant info is still there.)

Thanks a million !

So, Seek - which civs and leaders seem op to you, now that you've spent time to update and see word for word which is what and who is who?

Top contenders seem to be Khmer or Maya with Confucius, Rome with Augustus or Lafayette, Greece with Isabella, or ???

I'll be updating later today, many more details added (barring errors or changes, Antiquity is 99%, Leaders 100%), just waiting to see if Mughal Guide is released.

Thanks for the enthusiasm! :goodjob:

I'm looking forward to trying a bunch of different builds, no idea at this point if they're OP or not though..:p

A few to start:

Tropical (my first game):Trung TracMayaMajapahit (or Hawai'i)Siam
Rural Improvements/Many Small Cities:Ashoka WRAksumShawnee (or Inca with Serpent Mound)Prussia
Traditions:LafayetteMaurya (or Rome)NormansMexico
"Commander Commander":Friedrich ORomeMongolia
Buganda
Trade Routes & Resources:Xerxes AMississippiCholaAmerica
City State Defender:TecumsehGreeceShawneeSiam

So many fun options! What are some of your ideas?

It's not my first playthrough, but I want to do one that I call "The League of Cities".

Machiavelli
Greece / Shawnee / Siam

The point of it being to befriend, suzerain, and then annex city-states as a means of expansion instead of founding new settlements.

I'm also considering one I call "The Party Animal"

Rizal
Maurya > Normans > Mexico

It's a bit more tenuous though, as I'm not sure who would work best for Exploration.

Nice idea! I'll have to make note of this

Yeah, it's a little bit of a bummer that there isn't really another happiness/policy civ in exploration. Hopefully one of the early DLCs will have one..

Happiness in general is underutilized in civ uniques in Exploration. It's bizarre. Normans just seem like the best option because a Motte on Rough terrain is a consistent +8 Happiness. That seems doable at scale. They also have a small gold bonus during celebrations in one of their civics.

I think there might be a synergy with starting as the Mississippians and ending with the Mughals. Both have a flat terrain bias (and the Mughals need it for their Stepwells) and a propensity for economics. Maybe with Xerxes the Achaemenid as the leader.

Edit:
No, I've got it.

"The Richest Woman on Earth"

Amina
Mississippians > Songhai > Mughals

There are so many happiness wonders in expl that maybe focusing culture and production could be the real strat here?
