Folks,

Having seen the lovely Religious Student unit and having all sorts of problems getting the AI to build the units I think it should I have decided to move many types of units to be auto-produced by buildings.

I want a Magic School to auto-produce a Student, then have that student Upgrade to each Civ's Wizard. I don't want to set my Wizards as Kings since the game is a Regicide game. Is there any other way to do it so the units ungraded to cannot be built and do not appear in the tech tree?

Thanks

The King flag is what makes them not buildable. I'm not sure about any other method achieving this apart from this one flag.

The other methode only works on a fixed map and is somewhat complicated:

The Magic School must be built in a city in a microzone (a city, that is completely isolated from the tradenet of the civ) and needs a special single strat./lux. resource, that is preplaced in the separated tradenet of the isolated city. The autoproduced Religious Student is not available to any civ (or needs a tech that is not available) so the student doesn´t appear in the techtree.

For the upgrading of the student the single strat./lux. resource inside the microzone of the city is needed (of course that city also needs a facility to upgrading the student).

If the wizard should be available from start, of course it is much easier to preplace that wizard on the fixed map (or to set it as a starting unit). :D

Which is a great solution. Requiring a journey to a remote ashram or monastery makes sense. Those centers tend to have villages accrete around them as they endure and their fame spreads over time, so the idea of a "religious" city is not so far-fetched. With it isolated it would be simple to prevent it being able to build other sorts of unwanted improvements that don't match the focus. Barracks for example. Unless it's a Wudang Temple kind of place ...
