What is the sequent of steps I must use to create an army in the city that has the military academy? I don't see the usual "build army" button. What am I missing?

Thanks

Button? The army is listed in the improvement/unit list.

And, you must have 4 cities for each army.

You build the army like any other unit - 400 shields a pop. Let us say that your city is producing 40 shields per turn. You will then get your army in 10 turns, unless you cash-rush it of course.

The army will show up in the list of items to be build and you select it as you would a worker or any unit. The catch is that it will not show up in the list, if you are at your limit.

You can only have one army per every four towns. So if you have 4 armies already and 16/17/18 or 19 towns, you won't be able to build another army, until you have a 20th town.

This is why I rename my towns in an AW games to have a number. Then I know how many more towns I need to make another army.

You can actually have (# of cities/4) + 1 armies if you already initiated the army build and get a Great Military Leader while building the army.

Well my memory is not perfect, that is for sure, but I don't think this is correct. If you are building say the 4th army and have 16/17/18 or 19 towns and then get a leader, as soon as you create the 4th army with the leader, the MA city will switch builds.

IOW you will not be allowed to have a 5th army with less than 20 towns. I am pretty sure I have had that happen to me on several occassions.

My memory is not perfect either, but I have never seen any switch builds when doing this. I'll check some old save games this weekend to be sure.

And yes, patched all the way.
