V 1.29F problems

Hello - after a short hiatis i wanted to play CIV III again, but the program no longer works with the V 1.29 patch. I am running windows XP and the CIV III simply does not start. I use to play with the V 1.29 patch under windows 98 with no problem. I have read many of the threads and i think to get V 1.29 going is beyond my comprehension of computers...

Was there not a patch before V1.29 that addressed many of the problems? I have V. 1.07f on my CD, and it is frustrating to play (production being reset etc.) If anyone has a link to the patch previous to V1.29 that would be great.

hey if u are in the USA u should call 1 425 951 7108.. thats the ataris technical support. I had the same problem, and they sent me somthing on e-mail that got my game working again..

Can you be a bit more specific than "Does not start" - or is that specifically the issue?

The Civ 1.29f patch is fairly stable, whereas the ones before that had serious issues (air superiority crashes etc). You should try to get 1.29f working if you can. Have you tried a complete re-install? Are you using the correct version of the 1.29f patch (there are various versions for various language versions).

Thank you for your help so far. I use to run civIII with the 1.29f patch under windows 95or98 (i can't remeber which one). the problems have come up since i have XP. the civIII game runs fine without the patch(except for all of it's problems!). When i install the 1.29f patch it does not....

I have tried about 6 times to reinstall the game, and i have downloaded the patch from two different sites, here, and atari.

when i try to run the game with the patch the screen goes blank once for about 1 second, the hard drive hums for a few seconds, and then the screen comes back to what i was looking at before starting the game. That is it for CIVIII. The appearance of all my icons has now changed. They are bigger.
