v1.52 crash help

Hi, v1 and 1.09 worked fine, 1.52 will run but will crash eventually either online or offline, any clues in the file attached?

I found the game to be very stable on the regular/average sized maps, but on huge instability creeps in during the late game.

Killing my graphics settings down to low, however, helped greatly. If you're playing with low graphics quality settings and you're still crashing, than you have my sympathy. If not, give it a shot, hopefully that'll fix things for you.

They changed the way memory was handled to favor people with minimum ram specs.

they took out of sight units and stuck them in virtual memory instead of using the faster system ram.

I would suggest setting the ini to use your system ram again by changing these two lines.

set dynamic unit paging to 0

and dynamicanimpaging to 0


I would also set your page file to static if it is not so now.

at least 1500/1500 initial and max
 
tried the mods you suggested, no improvement. after playing offline for 30 mins it crashed again. symptoms are the graphics starting to do 'odd' things like what I call smearing of an element like a worker so that there appears to be a thick diagonal brown line about 1 inch long from a workers head! there are also odd flickers that don't appear whilst everything is ok.

when it crashes there is a Windows dialog telling me that civ has caused an error, i've not been able to capture the text file that is created before windows deletes it. if you want the information, it has been sent to microsoft apparently...

any more ideas?
 
That tip about virtual memory makes so much sense, considering the performance hits I've been suffering on a system with a 1 gig of ram. I'm going to try that and see if it helps.
