v1.52 Lost Experience on Upgrade

I upgraded a level 5 swordsman to maceman and he
his experience level dropped from 21/27 to 10/27. He
didn't lose any promotions, but it really will be hard
to reach level 6 now! It has also happened with an
axeman upgrade. I don't know about other units.

I'm playing a hotseat game, but not sure if that matters.

I experienced this problem in v1.09 as well.

Yes, units with more than ten experience drop to that when upgraded. Promotions are kept, though.

I haven't seen anything to lead me to expect this is supposed to happen. So it seems to be a bug.

Are you agreeing with the experience, or telling me this is supposed to happen?

Its not a bug, It's intended to be that way. Same way in Civ III, if you upgraded an Elite Unit, it went back down to Veteran status.
