Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth

I've played the original, and of course since :Lenneth is basically a port I apply here.

The game is fun, and has some interesting platforming puzzle elements to it (if they are a bit awkward to work with at times). The battle system is a good point of the game while it's a bit more simplistic than other console RPGs, the timing element keeps it fresh.

The story is fairly interesting in the way it's told. For the most part it's a series of very short mini stories about each of the characters you collect. There is a larger main story running behind it at all, but you'll probably need to go to gamefaqs to make sure you unlock it all (it really isn't something you just stumble into). As for the Norse mythology thing, it's certainly their to provide some names and themes but don't expect a totally accurate following to it. They certainly inject enough of their own stuff in their that's quite clearly very different. It looks at the whole thing through what I call "Anime Goggles" of course, I like that sort of thing.

Also the whole thing can tend to be very melodramatic, but honestly It works. It's also got some of the better voice acting from the PSX era, it's not extraordinary by any of today’s standard's but still qualifies as good.

It’s a great game overall. It certainly makes into my top 10 favorite games at the very least. It’s not for everyone though, but if you don’t mind a little inaccurate mythology and melodrama you’ll probably like it a lot.
