Value of Tech.

Well, you saved me posting a picture, Mr Spice. Yours looks better than mine, anyway.
Here is York, basic commerce count = 40. Science set to100%, so 40 + 60 + 60 = 160, * 2 ( Copernicus) = 320. Maybe I will post the picture. I get 137 actual.
No I did not save a pic of York.
How about London, 34 + 34 + 34 = 102. I get 68. Something is not working. In addition, if I set science to less than 100 it is even wierder. Here is London set at 50%:

No, I did that wrnog, didnt I. Its 34 + 17 + 17 = 68.
But at 50% it is 17+9+9=35.

34 is the base gold amount. So with 50% going to science is 17. 50% of 17(for Library) = 8.5
50% of 17(for university) = 8.5

17+8.5+8.5 = 34

Marketplaces and banks will add more gold, but doesn't help contribute any more money for science.

Looks like that is the formula, Nero--thanks.
Now the next question (s)
It doesnt always work.
Look at France: Orleans, 15 *.40=6+3 + 3=12. Cityreports: 12.
Rheims 16: 6.4+3.2+3.2=12.8. city: 12 -1 corruption.
Tours, 16 ---- 12.8. corruption 2. city report: 14. Maybe I miscounted...

next: cost of research. 14 turns at 287==4010. probably 4000. I can always buy for less that that. Cant get ahead, though. So I research another tree, at a slower rate, save enough to buy theirs, or trade luxuries. This seems to be going well. They only offer a few hundred, even on first turn, but hey, thats all i leave them.... they will trade tech for tech when it is fresh.
That cost of research does seem awfully unbalanced when compared to the selling price, even what they will sell to me for.

i have a screenshot much earlier .... and commerce that the workers bring in is that same amount that is calculated for science and moneys ... this is before i have build any librarys or marketplaces

True, when you don´t have any improvements commerce produced by the city equals the ammount showed in the commerce display. But when you build library, marketplace etc this is no longer true. In contradiction to what one would have thought, the commerce display does apparantly not show total ammount of commerce, but instead the sum of coins+bulbs+lux produced in the city after all bonuses from improvements have been added. (Happy faces from luxury resources are not included in city lux production.) This is what has been creating all the confusion. :)
