Vanilla to Conquests

What do you mean by lost? If the game was started with vanilla at 1.29F, it will play just fine in C3C patched to 1.22. If it was not started with 1.29f, it probably will not be able to be loaded.
In any event, the vanilla game will either load and be playable or not load at all. It get a dataio error if it is not compatable. Once you have saved the game in C3C at 1.22, you will not be able to play it without C3C.
The original save should still be in the orignal vanill save folder.

it's a great game (in my opinion) - my first attempt at warlord and i am about to take ownership of my continent.
i have since started another game, but if someone could figure out how to make this old one work, i would definitely finish it!

i'm coming late into this thread, but thought i should add this.
it is my understanding that if you load a vanilla game into c3c that it will still play with the ruleset of vanilla. in other words you still won't have stack movement or any other of the new features.

Why don't you take out the conquests CD, pop in the Vanilla CD, and just play your save.
Although I have conquests, every now and then I will still play a game in PTW. I played this expansion for so long and I like to keep my RCP skills sharp.
