VERY IMPORTANT: Future plan

It's time to reveal that my schedule is changing.

So far, it was:
"Completing the mod implementing the to-do list left by this summer"

In the new schedule I will be intensifying the development this month (as I've actually already done since mid-January), so that by the end of February the mod can be considered complete. It's possible that I will cut a part or most of the to-do list, if necessary.
From the beginning of March on, I will post only minor updates, and I'll be less active (but still present) in the forum.
The reason of this change is that I'll soon start working on another - top secret - project, still related to civ. I hope to be able to tell more about it in a couple of months.
I'll be working alone on this, but in case I need, I might send a PM to a couple of you for assistance, if you're interested and willing to spend some time on testing. In particular, I will need translators: a French, a German and maybe a Russian to localize the new text.

After May I'll possibly show up more often in the forum, and keep patching the mod and the other project when needed. However, it will be the final phase, as I will retire from modding civ4 by the end of the year.

Sorry to hear about you retiring this year, it's a big loss for players everywhere. I'm also excited that the mod will be done soon, as it is my favorite mod.

So you are going to creat scen/mod´s for Firaxis now arent you?

They (Firaxis) already gotten Trip (fantastic mod/scen maker). To bad he cant mod anymore unless its for future expansions and stuff.

Thamis got hired for the Total War game making and thus the fantastic thamis mod is halted dramaticly (dead) in progress.

And now they gotten Rhye...

I won't tell anything about it for the next months, when at least I'll be talking about something that exists and that's not just in my schedule.
For now, forget about all this. All I wanted to say is that I'm concentrating my efforts now and I'll cut some features, that is, we're getting closer to the end of the real development. I just mentioned the other project because you'd have asked the reason.

Wow. The end of an era, to be sure. It's sad for me to see it end, though it's also a bit exciting to see the mod entering its final stage of development.
I think at this point we need to discuss one non-urgent issue that's come up and kinda begs address now that development is ending - what do we do with UHVs? They still require a lot of fine-tuning. Should they be left in if it's hard or impossible to get them totally right, totally polished?

I imagine UHV tweaking would come under 'minor updates' considering how frequently they're changed.

Good luck with this new project Rhye. RFC is a vast improvement on the original game.

The thing about the UHV tweaking is that it will require a lot of tedious work to really get it right... Patches upon patches upon patches. The updates will be minor, the work less so.

It can be considered a Historical victory: "Make successful mods for civ2, civ3 and civ4 and their expansions by 2007AD".
