okay, my computer is an HP pavilion zd8000. I've had some problems with crashing, and I think I may need a new video card, which is a shame since this computer is pretty new. I've looked at many reviews online and checked with HP, and this computer is supposed to already have one of the better video cards (ATI Mobility Radeon x6000). So, my questions are:
1) Could crashing to desktop be related to an old video card, or is the ATI Radeon x6000 pretty good?
2) If I do get a new video card, what should I get?
3) How do I install it? Is it hard? I checked the Windows XP website, and the computer shown looked nothing like this one =(

Help would be appreciated!

You should really investigate why your computer crashes. How could you be sure it is the video card? It could be your OS. A virus/trojan. A bug in the program. DirectX. Soundcard. Drivers. Overclocked too much so it gets unstable. Overheat. Faulty RAM. etc. etc.

Well, unless you want to use that as an excuse to upgrade... ;)

I'm not sure it's the video card. I'm asking if the one I have is up to date, and may be the source of the problem.
I run Ad-Aware (anti-virus) pretty frequently.
I've browsed the forums, and other people experience the same error message and crash to desktop I do. I'd post a screenshot, but.... can't. Here's the basic idea of it:
"Your system has run out of video memory. Please try reducing your video settings."

What were you doing when the crashes occured? If you were doing something graphicly intensive ( like watching a DVD or playing Fear or something) then it might be the video card just not pulling its weight...of course, im no expert in this
