Video card question

I'm considering upgrading my PC to play Civ IV, and need to get a new video card. I want my game to look decent and run smoothly and crap, but I don't know the exact technical stuff. I know it needs 128MB for Recomended specs, but I have no idea what a pixel shader is or anything.

Anyway, is "Ati Radeon X600 HyperMemory" fine for Civ IV? I don't wanna buy a card and find out every unit is a grey outline or something...

X600 has the pixel shader but it is on par with cards several years old (like mine). Standard maps run on my rig but not smoothly; Doom3 and such snap, this game lags like it's in muck. Your mileage, as always, may vary.
